Karamay Vocational and Technical College

Karamay Vocational and Technical College was founded in 1956. It is a general higher vocational college with engineering as the main subject and both engineering and literature. It is a national demonstration higher vocational college, the first batch of "education informatization pilot units" by the Ministry of Education, and the second nationwide Approved "Modern Apprenticeship" pilot units, the first batch of "1+X" certificate system pilot institutions in the country, the chairman unit of Xinjiang Petroleum and Petrochemical Vocational Education Park, the vice chairman unit of Xinjiang Industrial Enterprise Vocational Education Alliance, and the National Vocational Education Teacher Training Base , Petroleum and chemical industry vocational education and training national demonstration training base, has won the title of "National Moral Education Research School" and the first batch of "Green University" in the autonomous region. The college runs schools in Dushanzi and Karamay. Among them, the Dushanzi campus covers an area of 1022.6 acres and a building area of 196,000 square meters; the Karamay campus shares campus resources with the Karamay campus of China University of Petroleum (Beijing) and Xinjiang Technician Training College. The total area is 7,200 acres and the building area is 645,000. Square meters; fixed assets of 320 million yuan (excluding the infrastructure of Karamay campus), teaching, experiment and training equipment assets of 99,954,800 yuan.


The college currently has 9,372 full-time students. There are more than 400 correspondence students in this college, and more than 2500 employees are trained annually. The total number of faculty members is 487; among them, there are 282 full-time teachers, 53 teachers with the title of associate professor and above, 5 doctors and 167 postgraduates. There are 6 excellent teaching teams at the autonomous region level, 2 excellent teaching teams in national petroleum and chemical education, 4 famous teachers in the autonomous region, 1 national famous teaching teachers in petroleum and chemical education, 3 teachers in the autonomous region, and employ part-time teachers from industry companies197 people. In order to adapt to the economic and social development of Xinjiang, serve the construction of the core area of the Silk Road Economic Belt and the scientific transformation of Karamay city, in accordance with the adjustment of the industrial structure of the autonomous region and the need of Karamay City to build a central city in northern Xinjiang, the college focuses on oil and gas exploration and development, petrochemical industry, and equipment. The industrial chain of manufacturing, intelligent control, modern information technology, and modern services has 36 high-level occupations in eight categories, including resource environment and safety, biology and chemical industry, energy and power and materials, equipment manufacturing, electronic information, tourism, finance and commerce, and civil engineering. The majors and 7 secondary vocational majors have formed a school-running feature with a variety of professional types as the main line of the petroleum and petrochemical upstream, middle and downstream industrial chain. Among them, there are 5 national demonstration construction majors, 3 national central financial support for the construction of training bases, 2 central financial support to enhance the professional service industry development capacity project, 6 autonomous region characteristic majors, 1 autonomous region-level professional service improvement project, 3 The second batch of pilot majors of the “modern apprenticeship” nationwide, 3 majors in vocational education teacher training bases in autonomous regions, 4 majors in the autonomous region for linking up undergraduates, and 6 majors for linking up secondary and higher vocational education.


The college’s experimental and training facilities are advanced and complete, with 124 on-campus training bases, experiment and training rooms; at the same time, 94 off-campus internships and training bases have been built to meet the needs of student skills training.


Based in Xinjiang, facing west and Central Asia, the college has maintained an employment rate of over 96% in the past three years.
