Established in 1985, Urumqi Vocational University is the only comprehensive full-time general higher vocational college in Urumqi, and the first higher vocational college established in Xinjiang after the reform and opening up. In 2007, with the approval of the People's Government of Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, the former Urumqi Vocational University and Urumqi Adult Education College merged to form a new Urumqi Vocational University, which implements a district-city management system based on the city.
Urumqi Vocational University has 5 campuses, covering an area of 2109.5 acres. The school’s total assets are 700 million yuan, with 224 on-campus experiment (training) rooms and 259 off-campus practice and training bases, of which the total value of teaching and research equipment is 103 million yuan, and the library has more than 950,000 books (including e-books). book. There are 10 specialty specialties in the autonomous region. The quality of the school’s students and the employment rate have always maintained a good trend. The "dual certificate" rate of graduates has reached 90%, and the employment rate has been stable at around 95%.
The school has now become a leading higher vocational college for training technical and technical talents in Xinjiang’s modern service industry. The "Cultural Center" was mutually established with Dostoevsky State University in Omsk Region of the Russian Federation to realize the exchange of teachers and students.
