Founded in 2003, Houbo College of Xinjiang Medical University is a full-time general undergraduate independent college run by Xinjiang Medical University under a new mechanism and new model, fully relying on the comprehensive advantages of Xinjiang Medical University and strong regional characteristics. At present, the college has eleven majors including clinical medicine, stomatology, pharmacy, medical imaging technology, medical laboratory technology, nursing, public utility management, information management and information systems.
In 2012, with the approval of the Ministry of Education and the People's Government of the Autonomous Region, Xinjiang Medical University and Karamay City adopted a cooperative school-running method to jointly build Houbo College. Hobo College designated λ as a medical college, with a student size of 5,000 in the near future and 10,000 in the long term. δ will develop into a comprehensive undergraduate college with both medical and non-medical majors. In 2015, Houbo College officially moved to Karamay City. The Karamay campus λ is located in Chengnan New District, Karamay City, with a planned total area of more than 1,140 acres and a total construction area of 240,000 square meters. The campus is planned and designed by the American company NBBJ. After the construction of the college is completed, the hardware conditions and infrastructure will reach the domestic first-class level.
