Xinjiang Vocational and Technical College of Light Industry was founded in 1958 and was restructured into a college-level higher vocational and technical college in June 2000. It is the first batch of higher vocational colleges in Xinjiang and belongs to the Department of Industry and Information Technology of the Autonomous Region.
