Shihezi University is a national "211 Project" key construction university, a national key construction university in the western part of the country and a provincial joint university. The predecessor of the school was born in September 1949 on the way of the Chinese People’s Liberation Army to liberate Xinjiang. In April 1996, it was formed by the merger of Shihezi Agricultural College, Shihezi Medical College, XPCC and XPCC Economic College under the Ministry of Agriculture.
