Sichuan Mechanical and Electrical Vocational and Technical College is an ordinary college of higher learning at the junior college level.
The college is located in Panzhihua City, Sichuan Province, the capital of steel, vanadium and titanium in western China, on the south bank of the scenic Jinsha River. It covers a total area of 886 acres. The campus is full of trees and flowers. There are two campuses, Majiatian and Jinjiang. The fixed assets exceed 130 million yuan. There are 55 practice rooms supporting majors, 32 training bases, 927 (sets) of advanced equipment or systems, and 780 computers. The library has a collection of 200,000 books, and the retrieval of books is managed by computer. There is a campus network connected to the Internet. The college has 119 teachers with titles of full professor and associate professor and above, 15 with master's degree and 3 with doctor's degree. Every year 2-3 American teachers come to the school to teach. There are more than 5,000 students of various types. The 5 departments of the college have 35 majors including electromechanical technology application, network technology and e-commerce, machinery manufacturing and automation, steel smelting, electronic and electrical, foreign tourism, management engineering, and computer application.
In order to encourage students to become talents, the college has established scholarships to reward outstanding students; the college is one of the designated schools of the "National Student Loan for Higher Education".
