Sichuan Vocational and Technical College of Chemical Industry (formerly Luzhou Technical College of Chemical Industry) is a full-time general higher education institution approved by the Sichuan Provincial People's Government and filed by the Ministry of Education. It is affiliated to the Sichuan Provincial Economic and Information Commission. The college was founded in 1953 and has a long history of running a school. It is the only chemical engineering higher vocational college with the longest history and the most influential in Southwest China. In 1998, it became the first batch of pilot schools for higher vocational education in Sichuan Province. In 2003, it was upgraded to a higher vocational college. In 2007, it was awarded the title of "excellent" in the evaluation of the level of talent training for higher vocational colleges by the Ministry of Education. In June 2012, it was identified as the construction unit of Sichuan Province's "Provincial Demonstrative Higher Vocational College Construction Plan". In January 2015, it successfully passed the acceptance of the provincial demonstrative higher vocational college construction project and obtained the "excellent" level.

The college has always attached importance to students’ vocational skills training. The experimental and training bases on campus have a total area of more than 50,000 square meters. There are 16 on-campus training bases, 128 experimental training rooms, and 4 mechanical engineering training centers. The school-in-plant, the training room covers all majors, and the experimental training rate reaches 100%. The college has established an applied chemical technology training base and an electrical training base funded by the central government.

Sinopec, Qilu Petrochemical, Lutianhua, Yuntianhua, Chitianhua, Chuantianhua, Luzhou Laojiao, Wuliangye, Southwest Research Institute of Chemical Industry and other large and medium-sized enterprises have become training bases and employment bases for our graduates.
