Sichuan Water Conservancy Vocational and Technical College was born and prospered because of water. The college was founded in 1956 and is a provincial public full-time general university. The college abides by the school motto of "Inheritance of Yu, Integrity and Encouragement", inherits the 2200 years of water conservancy culture in Dujiangyan, and has been nurtured by several generations of water conservancy people. The "5.12" earthquake caused the college to suffer heavy casualties and property losses. Under the cordial care of the Party Central Committee and the State Council, the college seized the opportunity of post-disaster reconstruction and built a new Yangma campus in Yangma New Town, Chongzhou City, forming a school-running pattern of three campuses in the two places. The college currently covers an area of more than 854.3 acres and has three campuses: Dujiangyan Old Campus, Shuanghe Training Campus, and Yangma New Campus. The building area is more than 240,000 square meters, the total asset value is 651 million yuan, and the collection of books is nearly 560,000. , The total value of teaching equipment is nearly 100 million yuan.
The college has seven departments, one department and two centers. It has established majors covering water conservancy, hydropower, aquatic products, construction, surveying and mapping, geology, resources and environment and other industries. Among them, there are 6 demonstration (key) majors in the Ministry of Water Resources and Sichuan Province, and 1 provincial-level boutique major. In the 1990s, the college built a training campus integrating 3×1250KW teaching and research hydropower plants, hydraulic machinery manufacturing practice factories, survey and design institutes, and engineering construction supervision companies. The training campus combines industry and academia to provide professional and productive training for more than 1,000 students, while achieving a total social product value of tens of millions of yuan per year, which is unique among domestic higher vocational colleges.
