Sichuan Institute of Culture and Art (formerly Mianyang Institute of Arts of Sichuan Conservatory of Music) was established in 2001, and established a master's degree training center jointly with Sichuan Conservatory of Music in 2012, and was transferred to Sichuan Institute of Culture and Art in 2014 with the approval of the Ministry of Education; June 2016 , The school was listed as a pilot institution for the overall transformation, development and reform of undergraduate colleges in Sichuan Province, and was the first governing unit of the "Sichuan Province Applied Undergraduate Colleges Alliance".
The school is located in China Science and Technology City, the second largest city in Sichuan Province-Mianyang, adjacent to Nanjiao Airport and Mianyang Nanhu Park. It has existing Mianyang campus, Zitong campus and Chengdu campus; it has used more than 1,500 mu of land and has a total construction area of more than 500,000 square meters. Meters, education and teaching, living facilities, information construction and other conditions are advanced; there are nearly 100 various laboratories, internships and training rooms, and the total value of teaching and research equipment exceeds 100 million yuan.
The school has the School of Fine Arts, the School of Media, the School of Music and Dance, the School of Culture and Economics, the School of Vocational Education, the School of Ideological, Political and Public Education, the Tang Yongtong College, and the School of Chinese Calligraphy and Seal Cutting. There are 34 undergraduate majors and 19 junior college majors. With art, literature, management and history as the main disciplines, a characteristic discipline integrating culture, art, engineering, and economics. According to the requirements of compound and application-oriented talent training and relying on industry advantages, a multi-disciplinary coordinated development and mutual support discipline professional system has been formed. There are currently 12,000 full-time undergraduate and junior college students.
The school has a team of more than 800 high-level and high-quality teachers. Former Minister of Culture, Famous Contemporary Chinese Writer Wang Meng, Former Vice Chairman of the Sichuan Provincial Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference Feng Chongtai, Former Deputy Director of the Higher Education Teaching Evaluation Center of the Ministry of Education Li Zhihong, National First-Class Composer and Performer Bian Jiunian, Deputy of the Institute of History and Culture of Peking University Lei Yuan, the director, and Zhao Tarim, the former dean of the China Conservatory of Music, were hired as honorary principals; there are more than 20 studios for famous teachers.

The school vigorously promotes domestic and foreign cooperation in running schools, with the New York Film Academy, California State University San Bernardino, National Incheon University, Chung-Ang University, Kyung Hee University, Hanyang Women’s University, Herzen National Normal University, Belarus More than 30 world-renowned universities, including the National University of Culture and Art, the European School of Design in Italy, and the Argenteuil National Academy of Art in France, have signed study abroad programs and other cooperation agreements; in addition to the national normal college promotion indicators, they have cooperated with Sichuan University, Chongqing Technology and Business University, etc. The co-organization of the self-examination and undergraduate undergraduate program has built a broader platform for student development; the employment rate of graduates has remained above 95% for consecutive years.
