Geely College

Geely College is an independent full-time private general undergraduate university approved by the Ministry of Education. It was founded in 1999 by the Fortune 500 company Geely Holding Group in Beijing, formerly known as Beijing Geely University. On April 30, 2014, it was upgraded to an undergraduate university with the approval of the Ministry of Education and changed its name to Beijing Geely University.

On February 26, 2014, General Secretary Xi Jinping visited the capital Beijing and proposed a coordinated development strategy for the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region. Beijing Geely College earnestly implemented the spirit of the speech of General Secretary Jinping on February 26, and worked hard to implement the strategy of dissolving non-capital core functions, and actively requested the relevant departments to relocate to Chengdu to run a school. With the strong support of the Ministry of Education, Beijing, Sichuan Province, Chengdu and Peking University, on March 30, 2020, with the approval of the Ministry of Education, Beijing Geely College moved to Chengdu as a whole, and the school name was changed to Geely College.

Geely College is located on the bank of Longquan Lake in Jianzhou New City, Chengdu. The school is surrounded by beautiful natural environment and superior geographical location. There are Chengjian Expressway, Second Ring Expressway, Xiarong Expressway and Yurong Expressway around the school, and the transportation is convenient. The Chengdu Metro Line 13 under planning and construction will set up a station at the south gate of the school; Tianfu International Airport is 15 kilometers away from the school.

Geely College uses 2,000 acres of land for running schools, with a total planned construction area of 1.2 million square meters. Planning and basic construction are carried out according to the scale of 35,000 people. The first phase of the construction project of Geely College is nearly 200,000 square meters, and the enrollment will start in September 2020.

According to the strategic cooperation framework agreement signed by Geely College and Peking University, Peking University, as a strategic support university of Geely College, established the Peking University Western Research Institute in Geely College to promote discipline and professional construction, faculty, scientific research and innovation, and transformation of scientific and technological achievements. Geely College was strongly supported and jointly established the development vision of building Geely College into an applied research university with international influence.

Geely College is a key project of Sichuan Province’s "Thirteenth Five-Year" higher education development plan and a key project of Sichuan Province in 2019. The school builds the most beautiful and smartest campus in accordance with the standards of a century-old college. In accordance with the people-oriented design concept, the school’s master plan has realized the organic integration of people, architecture and nature. The school uses artificial intelligence, big data, cloud storage and other means to build a smart campus; the school provides high-standard apartments and a comfortable living environment for teachers, students and employees.

With engineering as its leader, Geely College has coordinated development of multiple disciplines such as economics, management, education, literature, law, art, and science, and currently has 37 undergraduate majors. The school has School of Automotive Engineering, School of Intelligent Technology, School of Business, School of Saxo Financial Technology, School of Humanities, School of Art and Design, and Liberal Arts School.

Since the establishment of the school 21 years ago, the school has consistently adhered to the education policy of the party and the country, adhered to the direction of socialist school, adhered to the morality and cultivation of people, guided by Xi Jinping’s new era of socialism with Chinese characteristics, and comprehensively strengthened the party’s political and ideological construction. Practicing the core values of socialism and training socialist builders and successors with comprehensive development of moral, intellectual, physical, artistic and labor. In accordance with the school motto of “Entering the campus is to better go to the society” put forward by Chairman Li Shufu, the school gave full play to the advantages of Geely Group's enterprises in running the school, focused on deepening the integration of production and education, and cultivated a large number of applied talents for economic and social development.
