Sichuan Engineering Vocational and Technical College is a public full-time general higher education institution approved by the Sichuan Provincial People's Government. The school was founded in 1959, formerly known as the “Deyang Heavy Machinery Manufacturing School of the First Ministry of Machinery Industry”. From 1960 to 1962, in order to meet the construction needs of large state-owned enterprises such as the Second Heavy Machinery Manufacturing Plant, it was approved by the State Council to be reorganized as the "Southwest Heavy Machinery Institute" to train university undergraduate students. In 1962, the First Ministry of Machinery Industry abolished Southwest Heavy Mechanical and Electrical College and restored the secondary school system. The school was renamed "Deyang Machine Manufacturing School of the First Ministry of Machinery Industry". In 1965, the Ministry of Machinery Industry No. 1 transferred the school to the No. 2 Heavy Machinery Factory and merged with the part-time and part-time technical school run by the factory. The school was named "The No. 2 Heavy Machinery Factory and part-time and part-time technical school". In 1973, the school was renamed "Deyang Machine Manufacturing School", which was affiliated to the Sichuan Provincial Department of Machinery Industry. In 1977, the school was renamed "Deyang Machine Manufacturing School in Sichuan Province". In 1982, the school was renamed "Sichuan Mechanical Industry School". In 1999, the school added the school card of "Sichuan Engineering and Technology School". In 1999, Sichuan Mechanical Workers University moved to Sichuan Engineering and Technology School. In 2001, the Sichuan Provincial People's Government approved the merger of Sichuan Mechanical Industry Workers University and Sichuan Engineering Technical School to establish Sichuan Engineering Vocational and Technical College, which was affiliated to the original Sichuan Provincial Economic and Information Commission.
Sichuan Mechanical Industry Workers' University, Sichuan Engineering Technical School, and Sichuan Mechanical Industry School were cancelled at the same time. In 2006, Deyang Education College was merged into Sichuan Engineering Vocational and Technical College as a whole. As a result, the former Sichuan Provincial Economic and Information Technology Commission and Deyang Municipal People's Government implemented the "provincial and municipal co-construction" of Sichuan Engineering Vocational and Technical College. In 2006, the school was established as the first batch (28) of national exemplary higher vocational colleges by the Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Finance. Sichuan Engineering Vocational and Technical College is a public full-time general higher education school, affiliated to the Sichuan Provincial Department of Economics and Information Technology.
