Chengdu University of Information Engineering is a provincial general undergraduate college jointly established by Sichuan Province and China Meteorological Administration and the key development of Sichuan Province. The school was founded in 1951 and was restructured into Chengdu Meteorological School of the Central Meteorological Administration in 1956; it was upgraded to an undergraduate college-Chengdu Meteorological College in 1978; in 2000, the school was transferred from China Meteorological Administration to Sichuan Province and renamed as Chengdu Institute of Information Engineering; 2001 Sichuan Statistical School, formerly affiliated to the National Bureau of Statistics, was merged into the whole; in 2015, it was renamed Chengdu University of Information Technology. The school is the national central and western basic capacity building engineering colleges, the first batch of national "excellent engineer education training plan" pilot colleges, the first batch of "first-class discipline construction" colleges and universities in Sichuan Province, and the new doctoral degree granting unit construction college in Sichuan Province.


The school has two campuses, the airport and Longquan, covering an area of more than 2,000 acres. The school has a rich library and modern sports venues with complete facilities. The environment is elegant and the scenery is pleasant. It is an ideal place for studying and studying.


The school is committed to cultivating high-quality applied senior professional talents with healthy mental and physical fitness, good humanistic qualities, systematic theoretical knowledge, and solid practical ability for the country, and the talent training has achieved remarkable results. There are 17 colleges, 57 undergraduate majors, more than 21,000 full-time undergraduates and nearly 2,600 graduate students. There are 18 majors that have been approved as national and provincial first-class undergraduate majors, including 8 at the national level, 8 pilot majors of the Ministry of Education "Excellent Engineer Education and Training Program" and 9 provincial pilot programs of the "Excellent Engineer Education and Training Program" Professional. In the past two sessions, he has won 2 second prizes for national teaching achievements and 10 first prizes for provincial teaching achievements. The school draws on the international CDIO engineering education concept, vigorously promotes education and teaching reform, and is the only official member of the international CDIO organization in universities in western China.


The school has comprehensively strengthened the construction of disciplines, and the characteristics and advantages of disciplines have become increasingly prominent. The school focuses on information disciplines and atmospheric disciplines, with interdisciplinary characteristics as the main disciplines of engineering, science, and management. The school conducts scientific research in response to the frontiers of world science and technology and major national needs, and the level of scientific research and the ability to serve society continue to rise. There are 1 post-doctoral scientific research workstation, 16 provincial and ministerial key laboratories (including Provincial Engineering Technology Research Center, Philosophy and Society Key Research Base, and Collaborative Innovation Center), 11 provincial key laboratories of colleges and universities, and 11 humanities and social science key research bases. In the past five years, the school has undertaken nearly 200 national projects such as the National Science and Technology Plan, the National Natural Science Foundation, and the National Social Science Foundation; it has won 66 provincial and ministerial-level scientific research awards, including 3 second-class national scientific and technological progress awards.


The school has vigorously strengthened the construction of the teaching staff, and the teaching force has continued to grow. There are more than 1,200 full-time teachers, including more than 500 doctors and nearly 600 senior titles. There are experts with special government allowances from the State Council, Provincial Thousand Talents Program, Tianfu Ten Thousand Talents Program, Chinese Academy of Sciences Hundred Talents Program, provincial academic and technical leaders, and provincial tugong There are more than 120 person-times of experts; there are 6 national and provincial teaching teams, more than 10 national model teachers, national meteorological teachers, provincial outstanding teachers, provincial teaching teachers, and more than 100 academicians, Yangtze River, outstanding youth and other high-level academicians The experts are part-time professors of the school. There are more than 20 part-time doctoral tutors outside the school, and 46 major academic part-time jobs are relatively influential.


The school conscientiously implements the country's new era of education opening up to the outside world and the "Belt and Road" requirements for the internationalization of education, and insists on opening up schools. Signed cooperation agreements with more than 40 well-known universities and scientific research institutions in the United States, Britain, Germany, Australia, Singapore and other countries, and established multiple international joint laboratories (joint research institutes) in cooperation with well-known foreign universities such as Colorado State University in the United States. Develop all-round and multi-level international exchanges and cooperation in the fields of, scientific research and personnel training, adhere to the development strategy of serving the "Belt and Road", recruit and train foreign students in China, and the internationalization of school education has been continuously improved.
