The Xi’an Institute of Communications of the Chinese People’s Liberation Army is a communications professional academy that trains junior communications commanders and engineering and technical officers for the entire army. It is subordinate to the General Staff Headquarters.
The predecessor of the college was the Northeast Democratic Alliance Headquarters Communications School, which was founded in 1945. In 1986, it was renamed Xi'an Institute of Communication. The college is located at No. 97, Chang'an Middle Road, Xi'an. The camp is divided into three parts and covers an area of 618.2 acres. The living areas are located on Chang’an Middle Road and Zhangba East Road, and the teaching area is located in Wangqu Town, Xi’an.
The college offers communication command, computer science and technology, information engineering, communication engineering, network engineering, wired communication command, wired communication engineering, telecommunications exchange command, telecommunications exchange engineering, data communication terminal, computer maintenance and other majors. The training level is mainly undergraduate, with some junior colleges, and the training target is military officers. At the same time, the academy is also a pilot institution for recruiting military-community bi-directional selection students for the whole army, with undergraduate training at the undergraduate level and the training target for engineering and technical cadres. There are currently more than 3400 students in the school. In addition to on-campus training, the college, as the main examination college, also undertakes the task of recruiting self-study computer communication engineering undergraduates and junior college students for self-study exams, as well as various communication majors and correspondence students.
The college has good teaching and scientific research conditions, supporting teaching facilities and strong teaching staff. As the "Military Optical Fiber Communication Talent Training Center", our institute brings together the most advanced optical fiber communication equipment and teaching methods, and is an important training base for the entire army's optical fiber communication talents. There are 2 optical fiber and program-controlled experimental bases, 41 various laboratories, 8 public multimedia teaching centers, 7 modern computer network centers, 1 simulation center, and 165 sets of advanced equipment such as optical transceivers and program-controlled switches. There are more than 4300 various communication equipment, instruments and meters. The library has a building area of 6,000 square meters and a collection of 250,000 books. He founded newspapers such as "Military School Life" and "Wired Communication".
The college has a team of teachers with deep academic attainments, rigorous style of study, solid theoretical foundation, reasonable echelon, and rich teaching experience. In recent years, the college has won 2 first prizes, 1 second prize, and 12 third prizes for military scientific and technological progress; 2 first prizes, 5 second prizes, and 4 third prizes for the review of military teaching achievements; The Army’s communications training simulation equipment has 1 first prize and 3 second prizes.
In recent years, our students have achieved excellent results in the "National College Student Electronic Design Competition" and the "National College Student English Competition". In the National College English Test and the National Computer Test, good results have also been achieved.
Since its restoration, the college has trained and sent more than 10,000 communications officers for the entire army, and trained more than 4,000 professionals for the local post and telecommunications, telecommunications, and public security departments. The graduates are all over the PLA headquarters and all communications units (stations) of the entire army. In the military and professional technical competitions organized by the whole army and major military regions, the students who graduated from our college can achieve excellent results.
