Shangluo College is a multidisciplinary undergraduate college directly affiliated to the Shaanxi Provincial Department of Education. Its predecessor was the "Shangluo Specialist College of Shaanxi Normal University" established in 1976. It was renamed "Shangluo Teachers College" with the approval of the Shaanxi Provincial People's Government in 1984. , In February 2006, it was upgraded to an undergraduate college approved by the Ministry of Education.
The college is located in Shangluo, the hometown of the famous writer Jia Pingwa, an ecological garden city in southeastern Shaanxi, covering an area of 465 acres and a school building area of 182,226 square meters. The total value of teaching equipment is 25.45 million yuan. There are 620,000 paper books, 290,000 e-books, more than 1,100 kinds of paper periodicals, and 4,600 kinds of electronic periodicals.
There are 463 faculty members in the college, including 319 full-time teachers and 118 associate professors or above; 23 well-known experts and scholars such as Hou Xun, academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, and famous writer Jia Pingwa have been long-term hired as part-time professors of the college, and 4 foreign teachers have been hired. Among the teachers, there are 1 expert who enjoys special government allowances, 2 master tutors, 4 national outstanding teachers, 1 won the "May 1st" Labor Medal, 1 provincial teaching teacher, 6 Zeng Xianzi awards, provincial and ministerial outstanding 10 teachers and advanced individuals.
The college currently has 11 departments including politics, education, history, Chinese, English, mathematics, physics, chemistry, biomedical engineering, computer science, art, physical education, etc., and 38 undergraduate majors. Among them, the majors of Chinese language and literature and applied electronic technology are Excellent Education Reform Pilot Major in Shaanxi Province. There are currently 5,059 full-time students and 2,000 adult education students.
The college continues to deepen reforms, and the quality of education and teaching has been significantly improved. In recent years, he has presided over 15 provincial-level educational reform and scientific research projects, and won 3 first prizes and 5 second prizes for outstanding teaching achievements of the Shaanxi Provincial People's Government. Three provincial-level quality courses have been completed. In 2004 and 2005, the online rate of the "College Upgraded Undergraduate" Unified Examination ranked first in the province. The floating rate of candidates for the 2006 "college-upgraded undergraduate" examination was up to 60.5%. In the 2005 and 2006 National College English Contests, our students won the special prize and the first prize of the "National College English Contest (Level B)".
The college has continuously increased its scientific research efforts, and its scientific research strength has been significantly enhanced. There are 7 research institutions including the Institute of Quantum Optics and Quantum Information, Jia Pingwa and Shangluo Culture Research Institute, and GAP Research Engineering Center. In recent years, it has undertaken 58 scientific research projects at or above the provincial and departmental level, obtained 3 national patents, and published 15 academic papers by SCI and EI. According to the statistics of the Science and Technology Development Center of the Ministry of Education in 2002, the number of CSCD papers published by the faculty of the Institute of Quantum Optics and Quantum Information of our school was ranked 30th according to the number of citations of author's papers in colleges and universities, and the number of citations reached 50 times.
