Xi'an Aeronautical Vocational and Technical College is a national exemplary higher vocational college, a national high-quality higher vocational college, and one of the 56 "high-level vocational schools with Chinese characteristics" in the country. It is a full-time public general higher vocational college approved by the Ministry of Education and qualified for higher education enrollment. It is directly under the Shaanxi Provincial Department of Education and recruits students nationwide.
The school is located in Yanliang District, Xi'an, a famous aviation city in China, and is in the national aviation industry base. In the 63 years since its establishment, the school has been adhering to the fine tradition of "Being morals, dedication, dedication, cultivating talents and talents, serving the country by aviation, and pursuing excellence", and has cultivated a large number of national aviation enterprises. The predecessor of the school was the "Yanliang First Aviation Industrial Workers Technical School of the Third Ministry of Machinery Industry" established in 1958. It was affiliated to the former Third Ministry of Machinery Industry. In 1985, it was changed to a full-time secondary professional school. In 1994, it was renamed Xi'an Aeronautical Engineering School of the Air Force. In 2001, it was transferred from the Air Force to Shaanxi Province to be managed by the Air Force.
In December 2006, the school successfully passed the evaluation of the Ministry of Education’s National Higher Vocational and Technical Personnel Training Work Level with excellent results; in 2010, it passed the acceptance of the National Demonstration College Construction Project and was identified as one of the top 100 key construction projects by the Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Finance. “National Demonstrative Higher Vocational Colleges”; In 2018, the school was identified by the Ministry of Education as the construction unit of “National Quality Higher Vocational Colleges”; in 2019, the school was again identified as “High-level Higher Vocational Colleges with Chinese Characteristics "School and Professional Construction Plan" project construction unit.

The school has three campuses in the south, north and east, covering an area of more than 1,000 acres and enrolling more than 13,000 students. There are 9 secondary colleges, including the School of Aviation Maintenance Engineering, the School of General Aviation, the School of Aviation Manufacturing Engineering, the School of Aviation Management Engineering, the School of Aeronautical Materials Engineering, the School of Artificial Intelligence, the School of Automation Engineering, the School of Automotive Engineering, and the Academy of Non-commissioned Officers.
