Yulin College is located on the southern edge of the Mu Us Desert, in Yulin City, Shaanxi Province, an important national energy and chemical base, a historical and cultural city and a modern characteristic agricultural demonstration base in the bordering area of Shaanxi, Gansu, Ningxia, Mongolia, and Shanxi. It is the only provincial undergraduate college in Yulin City that has coordinated the development of disciplines such as Liberal Arts, Science, Agriculture, and Law. The school’s predecessor was the Suide Branch of Xi’an Normal University, founded in 1958. The school’s history can be traced back to the Suide Normal School founded in 1923. It was renamed as the Yulin Specialist Department of Shaanxi Normal University in 1978 and moved north to Xisha, Yulin in the early 1980s. It was renamed Yulin Teachers College in 1991, merged with Yulin Agriculture and Forestry College in 1991, and integrated into Yulin College. In 2003, it was upgraded to an undergraduate college with the approval of the Ministry of Education and named Yulin College. In 2016, the school became a pilot institution for national transformation and development. In 2018, the school was identified as a first-class applied undergraduate college construction unit by Shaanxi Province, and as a newly-added master's degree authorized unit by the Ministry of Education. In 2020, 200 public-funded normal school students were enrolled, and the admission score far exceeded the first line, and the quality of the student source was greatly improved.
