Xi'an University of Arts and Science

Xi'an College of Arts and Science is located in Xi'an, the capital of Shaanxi Province. The school is a full-time general undergraduate university approved by the Ministry of Education in 2003, sponsored by the Xi'an Municipal Government, co-constructed by the provinces and cities, and enrolled nationwide. It was successively merged by Xi'an University, Xi'an Teachers College, Xi'an Institute of Education, Xi'an Kindergarten Normal School and Xi'an Normal School. The school history can be traced back to the Shaanxi Normal School established in 1903. The school adheres to the connotation of Guanzhong Academy of "Practice by Practice, Apply to the World’s Application, Be Honest to the Basics, and Practical Practice", combined with the national education policy of "Educating people first, moral education first", condensed the formation of "moral, dedication, learning, The school motto of “Professional and lofty”. The school has established a “local, application-oriented, and open-ended” school positioning, and adheres to the path of transformation and upgrading, innovation-driven, connotative development, and quality. In 2011, it successfully passed the undergraduate teaching qualification assessment of the Ministry of Education and became Shaanxi Province in 2013. Double bachelor's degree award pilot unit, in 2014 it became a pilot school for transformation and development of Shaanxi Province, a unit of demonstration station for joint training of graduate students, and in 2016 it became a pilot university in Xi'an National Comprehensive Innovation and Reform Pilot Zone.


The school occupies an area of 741 acres, with three campuses of Gaoxin, Taibai and Academy, with a construction area of 470,700 square meters, 1.53 million books and materials, total assets of 1.38 billion yuan (total fixed assets of 1.078 billion yuan), and total value of teaching equipment 186 million yuan.


   The school currently has 1,179 faculty members and 721 full-time teachers. There are 359 teachers with senior professional titles and 532 with master's degree or above. There are 3 academicians of the two academies; 17 national, provincial, and municipal experts; 5 provincial-level teaching teachers, 2 provincial-level outstanding teachers, and 3 provincial-level teachers' morality pacesetters and advanced individuals.


   The school has 48 undergraduate majors covering ten disciplines including literature, science, engineering, education, management, economics, law, history, agriculture, and art, with 12,256 full-time students. There are 12 secondary colleges and 1 continuing education college. There are currently 4 provincial-level key disciplines, 3 provincial-level comprehensive reform pilot majors, 1 provincial-level first-class construction major, 6 provincial-level first-class cultivation majors, 4 provincial-level characteristic major construction sites, and 7 provincial-level teaching teams. 6 provincial-level experimental teaching demonstration centers, 3 provincial-level talent training model innovation experimental areas, 2 provincial-level off-campus practical education bases for college students, 1 provincial-level key research base of philosophy and social sciences, 1 provincial-level key laboratory, 2 There are also 17 municipal engineering laboratories, 17 provincial-level quality courses, provincial-level quality resource sharing courses, 1 provincial-level bilingual teaching demonstration course, and 4 provincial-level teacher education online open courses.


In recent years, the quality of the school’s source of students has increased year by year, and the enrollment ranking has increased significantly. It ranks among the forefront of similar colleges and universities in the province. The student employment rate has always remained above 90%; Mathematical modeling and other competitions have won more than 400 awards at the provincial level and above, and have been approved for college students’ innovation and entrepreneurship training programs with 22 national-level and 55 provincial-level projects. The school has trained a large number of outstanding graduates and made contributions to social development. The school cooperates with provincial and municipal government departments, industry enterprises, and all walks of life to establish Chang'an history and culture, regional education development, Xi'an economic and social development, Xi'an urban and rural development, Xi'an Qinling environmental protection, Xi'an clean government research, Xi'an tourism development, Chinese painting and calligraphy art , Education and Culture of the Silk Road Economic Belt, Ali Big Data Institute and other research institutions. In the past three years, teachers have published more than 700 papers in core journals, published more than 100 monographs and textbooks, and presided over 481 national, provincial and municipal scientific research projects. 126 national patents were approved and 68 provincial and municipal scientific research awards were awarded.


   The school has established friendly cooperation with many universities in the United States, Canada, Japan, Thailand, Cambodia, Britain, Belgium, Croatia, Switzerland, New Zealand, Hungary, Italy, Taiwan and Hong Kong. Send students to exchange internships, carry out academic education, send foreign students to each other, etc.; select young teachers to visit foreign universities to conduct cooperative research and teacher training. Nearly 300 students have been selected for exchange internships in the United States, Japan, Hungary, Thailand, Malaysia, Taiwan, China and Hong Kong, and nearly 200 international students from South Korea, Thailand, and Central Asian countries have come to study in the school.
