Established in 1955, Xi’an Technological University is a military supporting project of the 156 key construction projects of the national “First Five-Year Plan”. Over the past 65 years, the school has practiced the school motto of "Demonstration, knowledge and deeds", promoted the school spirit of "loyalty and enterprising, exquisite craftsmanship", emphasized the tempering of students' military character, strengthened the cultivation of engineering practice ability, and contributed to the regional economy and national defense. The industry has sent more than 140,000 senior professionals.
The school covers an area of 1,200 acres, with a building area of 800,000 square meters. There are more than 1,900 faculty members, more than 2,800 full-time doctoral and master students, and more than 18,000 undergraduates.
The school currently has 15 teaching units, including 3 first-level disciplines for doctoral degree authorization, "Optical Engineering", "Materials Science and Engineering" and "Mechanical Engineering", and 3 post-doctoral research mobile stations. There are 16 first-level disciplines for master's degree authorization, 11 professional master's authorization categories; the school has 56 undergraduate majors. The disciplines cover 8 disciplines including engineering, science, management, economics, law, literature, education, and art.
At present, 5 disciplines of the school have been approved as national defense characteristic disciplines, 1 discipline was selected as the provincial "domestic first-class discipline construction discipline", and 7 disciplines are included in the provincial advantageous disciplines and characteristic discipline construction projects. In the fourth round of subject evaluation, 5 subjects were on the list, and the number of subjects on the list was in the forefront of provincial high-level universities.
The school's 6 majors are included in the "Excellent Engineer Education and Training Plan". 6 majors are national-level characteristic majors, 22 majors have been approved as national and provincial-level first-class undergraduate majors, 2 national-level professional comprehensive reform pilot projects, 9 majors have passed engineering education certification, and 9 provincial-level characteristic majors. There are 8 provincial-level professional comprehensive reform pilot projects.
The school has 1 national-level bilingual teaching demonstration course, 6 national-level first-class courses, 17 provincial-level first-rate courses, 21 provincial-level quality courses, 54 provincial-level quality resource sharing courses, and 6 provincial-level innovation and entrepreneurship education courses.
The school has 1 national experimental demonstration center, 1 national engineering practice education center, 1 national off-campus practice base construction project for college students, 18 provincial experimental teaching demonstration centers and virtual simulation experimental teaching centers, and a provincial-level talent training model There are 16 innovation experimental areas, 4 provincial-level off-campus practice education bases for college students, and 2 provincial-level off-campus innovation and entrepreneurship education practice bases.
The school won the second prize of national teaching achievement twice in 2009 and 2014. In the past 10 years, the school has won 22 provincial teaching achievement awards (including 4 special prizes and 6 first prizes). In 2012, it became the “Pilot College for Comprehensive Reform of University Students' Innovation Ability in Shaanxi Province”, in 2016 it became “Shaanxi Province Colleges and Universities Practice Education Innovation and Entrepreneurship Base”, “Shaanxi Province Higher Education Reform Pilot College for Innovation and Entrepreneurship Education”; in 2017, it became “Shaanxi Province's first To approve and deepen innovation and entrepreneurship education reform model universities"; in 2019, it will become a research and training base for innovation and entrepreneurship education in Shaanxi Province. The school has long focused on platform and team building to improve technological innovation capabilities. The school now has 1 national and local joint engineering research center, 1 national and local joint engineering laboratory, 1 international science and technology cooperation base, 1 key laboratory of the Ministry of Education, and 23 other provincial and ministerial research bases. In 2019, it was approved to jointly build the "School-Enterprise Joint Research Center for Light Alloy New Materials", which is our school's first "Four Subjects and One Joint" school-enterprise cooperation to build a provincial-level research center. It has 2 key scientific and technological innovation teams in Shaanxi Province and 4 young innovation teams in universities in Shaanxi Province. It has the ability to undertake major scientific research projects in such disciplines as optical advanced manufacturing, special processing, high-performance light alloy new materials, weapon testing and control technology.
The school is currently undertaking the commissions of the Ministry of Science and Technology, the Ministry of Education, the National Natural Science Foundation of China, the National Social Science Planning Office, the Military Commission Science and Technology Committee, the Equipment Development Department, the Military Equipment Department, the National Defense Science and Technology Bureau, and provincial and municipal departments, enterprises and institutions More than a thousand items of various types of projects. A number of key technological achievements with independent intellectual property rights have played an important role in the national defense construction. Since 2015, it has won 2 second prizes of the National Science and Technology Progress Award, 1 first prize of the National Defense Science and Technology Award, 4 second prizes, and more than 40 provincial and ministerial scientific research awards. The school has vigorously strengthened the integration of industry, university and research. In 2017, it was approved the China Industry-University-Research Cooperation Innovation Award, and was included in the Xi'an Comprehensive Innovation Reform University Pilot Unit. In 2019, it was approved for one China Industry-University-Research Cooperation Innovation Achievement Award.

Since the "Twelfth Five-Year Plan", the school has achieved rapid development in various undertakings. In 2011, the school became a key high-level university in Shaanxi Province. In 2012, the joint construction of Shaanxi Provincial People's Government and China North Industries Group Co., Ltd. was realized. In 2013, the school was approved as a doctoral degree-granting unit. In 2014, it was approved as a post-doctoral research mobile station establishment unit. In 2015, the school won the second prize of National Science and Technology Progress Award as the first completion unit. In 2016, the Shaanxi Provincial People's Government and the National Defense Science, Technology and Industry Administration were jointly established. In 2017, the joint construction of Shaanxi Provincial People's Government and China North Industries Group Co., Ltd. was realized. In 2018, it was selected as a "domestic first-class discipline construction university" in Shaanxi Province. In 2019, 6 national-level first-class undergraduate professional construction sites were approved.
