Haidu College of Qingdao Agricultural University is an independent college sponsored by Laiyang Agricultural College approved by the Ministry of Education in 2005. In 2007, it was renamed Haidu College of Qingdao Agricultural University. The college is located on the Laiyang campus of Qingdao Agricultural University. It is a complete campus with a history of more than 60 years of construction. It has complete conditions and a profound cultural heritage. It can meet more than 10,000 students. It covers an area of 1,000 acres. The library has a collection of more than 10.987 million books. The area is 201,700 square meters, the total fixed assets are 354 million yuan, and the teaching equipment is worth more than 60 million yuan. In 2006, the Shandong Provincial Department of Education organized the inspection of colleges and universities running conditions, and indicators such as the value of equipment per student, books per student, and student-teacher ratio were among the top two in the province's 12 independent colleges. The college now has 7 teaching departments, 33 undergraduate majors and some related colleges, including engineering, food, biotechnology, humanities and arts, economics and management, basic teaching and ideological and political theory teaching. There are 11 on-campus experimental and practical teaching centers in computer, mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, architectural engineering, chemistry, food science and engineering, biological engineering, animal science, plant science, economics and management, humanities and arts; establish off-campus practical teaching base 160 indivual. 431 teachers are employed, including 74 doctors, 280 masters, 43 professors, and 93 associate professors. The college sets up a national scholarship of 8,000 yuan/year, a provincial government scholarship of 6,000 yuan/year, a national inspirational scholarship of 5,000 yuan/year, and a provincial government’s motivational scholarship of 5,000 yuan/year; first, second, and third-class academic scholarships are set up to reward students who are excellent in study. The college actively carries out international exchanges and cooperation with foreign universities. At the same time, it signed exchange and cooperation agreements with relevant universities in the United States, South Korea, Italy, the Philippines, and New Zealand.
