Dongchang College of Liaocheng University is located in the beautiful Jiangbei Water City and the ancient capital of the canal-Liaocheng Economic Development Zone. It covers an area of more than 500 acres and has a net asset of more than 550 million yuan. The college was established with the approval of the Shandong Provincial Department of Education in April 2002 as a secondary college of Liaocheng University. It was approved as an independent undergraduate university by the Ministry of Education in June 2005. In August 2005, the Liaocheng Municipal Party Committee and Municipal Government decided to merge the Liaocheng Education College and Liaocheng Normal School, which have a history of running schools for a hundred years, into the Dongchang College of Liaocheng University, achieving complementary advantages and optimizing the allocation of resources.
The college is a full-time general undergraduate college that recruits ordinary undergraduate and junior college students from the society. The students are from 28 provinces (municipalities, autonomous regions) across the country, with 9,100 students. There are currently 12 departments (departments) including Chinese, Economics and Management, Foreign Languages, Education, Mathematics and Information Engineering, Film and Television Media, Chemical Biology, Mechanical and Electrical Engineering, Music Performance, Art Design, Physical Education Department, and Marxist Teaching Department. There are currently 34 undergraduate majors and 16 junior majors, focusing on engineering, covering disciplines such as economics, education, literature, science, engineering, management, and art.
The college insists on improving teaching quality as its core, strict teaching management, and actively carrying out teaching reforms. Relying on the comprehensive strength of Liaocheng University, sharing the rich teaching resources of Liaocheng University faculty, experiments, books, etc., more than 90% of the lecturers have a master's (doctoral) degree or intermediate or above titles, and the relevant administrative management unit experts and enterprise technical backbones are recruited as students In teaching, focus on practical teaching links and implement case teaching. The college has established 82 internship training bases to promote the improvement and all-round development of students' comprehensive quality, and lay a solid foundation for students' employment and further study.
The college has advanced teaching equipment and complete teaching facilities: high-speed broadband campus network, multimedia classrooms, advanced audio-visual language rooms, various professional laboratories, computer hardware laboratories, computer network laboratories, accounting training rooms, large-scale pianos Room, studio, national second-class track and field stadium, ball stadium, college student activity center, etc. The college library is the first batch of CALIS (Chinese Higher Education Document Security System) member libraries in the country. There are 1340 ancient books in its collection, including 6 Ming edition thread-bound books and 1334 Qing edition thread-bound books. In addition, there are 1028 volumes of thread-bound books from the Republic of China and 670 thread-bound books after 1949. It is an advanced unit in the protection of ancient books in Shandong Province, and its collection of ancient books has been successfully selected into the "Shandong Province Rare Ancient Books Directory".
