Shandong Women's College

Shandong Women's College is a provincial public general undergraduate college, the only women's college in Shandong Province, and one of the three general undergraduate colleges and universities for women in the country. Its predecessor was the Shandong Women’s Cadre School founded in 1952; it was closed in February 1961 and restored in December 1979; in 1987 and 1995, it was renamed the Shandong Branch of the China Women’s Management College and the Shandong Branch of the China Women’s College, respectively, in 2010. It was approved by the Ministry of Education to be rebuilt into a full-time general undergraduate university in March of 2008—Shandong Women's College.


   During the "13th Five-Year Plan" period, the school is positioned as an application-oriented school with local characteristics, actively innovating, forging ahead, and making positive contributions to the local social and economic development.


   The school has two campuses: Zhongyuhan Campus and Changqing University Science and Technology Park Campus. It covers a total area of 716,600 square meters and a building area of 253,500 square meters, including an area of 128,500 square meters for teaching and administrative rooms. The school has 73 experimental training rooms with a total value of 60,751,400 yuan in teaching equipment; the comprehensive quality education experimental training center for female college students is a provincial-level experimental teaching demonstration center. The collection of paper books is 1.2219.7 million copies, 638 Chinese and foreign paper periodicals are ordered annually, 22 electronic document databases, and 9,252 Chinese and foreign electronic periodicals are ordered annually.


   There are 740 faculty members in the school, including 625 teachers; 60 professors and 203 associate professors, accounting for 35.54% of the total number of teachers; the proportion of masters and doctors is 91.20%. The school has 3 provincial-level teaching teams, 1 Shandong Provincial Colleges and Universities Advantage Subject Talent Team Training Project, 1 person enjoying the special government allowance of the State Council, 4 provincial-level teaching teachers, and 6 provincial-level outstanding teachers. It recruits students from 14 provinces (autonomous regions) across the country. There are currently more than 11,400 full-time students, of which 71.7% are undergraduates.


   The school has 15 teaching colleges (departments), 33 general undergraduate majors, 21 general junior majors, involving 8 disciplines in education, law, management, economics, art, literature, engineering, and science. The school aims to cultivate high-quality applied specialized talents, and focuses on cultivating students' practical application ability to promote the construction of majors and courses. There are 2 provincial-level high-level applied undergraduate professional groups, 1 engineering major in Shandong Province, 1 provincial undergraduate specialty, 1 national quality course, 17 provincial quality courses, and presides over the provincial level. 17 teaching, research and teaching reform projects, one project of the Ministry of Education's excellent kindergarten teacher training reform project, and one project of the Shandong Province Excellent Engineer Training Plan project. Won 1 second prize of National Basic Education Teaching Achievement, 4 first prizes of provincial teaching achievement, 4 second prizes, 3 third prizes; 2 provincial-level talent training model innovation experimental areas and provincial teachers 1 education base.


   The school adheres to the quality of the school, pays attention to the cultivation of students' application ability, and the quality of talent training is continuously improved. The school is a demonstration platform for undergraduate entrepreneurship in Shandong Province. In the past three academic years, students have won 135 national awards and 99 provincial and ministerial awards in national mathematical modeling, e-commerce "innovation, creativity and entrepreneurship", "Internet +" and other college student subject competitions; the overall employment rate of graduates has remained at 96 % Above, the high-quality employment rate remains at around 80%, of which 94.16% are undergraduates who are employed in Shandong Province.


Since the "Twelfth Five-Year Plan", the school has undertaken 1 National Natural Science Foundation project, 4 National Social Science Foundation projects, 1 National Art Fund project, 8 national sub-projects and cooperative projects, and 252 provincial and ministerial projects. There are 73 provincial and ministerial scientific research awards; 56 academic works and 81 textbooks have been published, and 102 national patents have been approved.


The school focuses on cultivating women/gender research characteristics and advantages, and has established the All-China Women’s Federation Women/Gender Research and Training Base, the National Family Education Research and Experiment Base, the Shandong Gender Equality Research Center, and the Shandong University Female Human Resources Development and Management Research Base. The platform has achieved a series of research results and won the "Outstanding Organization Award for Chinese Women's Studies" by the All-China Women's Federation. The Journal of Shandong Women’s University, with the purpose of deepening women/gender studies and promoting advanced gender culture, is one of the three women/gender theoretical research publications in the country. It has now formed a feature that integrates gender research perspectives and the characteristics of the times. It has successively been rated as "National Excellent Social Science Journals of Colleges and Universities", "National Excellent Journals of Local Colleges and Universities", "Excellent Journals in East China" and "Excellent Journals in Shandong Province".


   The school insists on opening up schools, and establishes educational exchanges and cooperative relations with domestic and foreign universities, scientific research institutes, enterprises and institutions. In 2011, he joined the World Women’s Education Alliance. In 2014, he co-sponsored the establishment of the China Women’s Higher Education Alliance with China Women’s University and Hunan Women’s University, and worked with women’s universities at home and abroad to develop higher education for women. Up to now, a total of 45 foreign (overseas) cooperative colleges and universities have been established, covering North America, Europe, Asia, and Oceania. Mutual visits between leaders, teacher-student exchanges, and scientific research cooperation have become more frequent, becoming an important driving force for the rapid development of the school.


The school insists on cultural education. In the course of running the school for many years, it has formed the school motto of "Kunde Hanhong, Supreme Virtue and Beauty", the school spirit of "Unity, enterprising, truth-seeking and innovation", and women who are "constantly striving, persevering, seeking truth and innovation, and constantly climbing". The spirit of the academy, the teaching style of "rigorous academic research, precepts and deeds", and the style of study of "diligence and careful thinking, seeking truth and dexterity" have successively sent nearly 70,000 graduates, and trained more than 20,000 women cadres and key kindergarten teachers inside and outside the province. The school has successively won the national "March 8th" red flag collective, the national advanced collective of student status management, the advanced collective of Shandong teaching management, the advanced unit of scientific research management of Shandong colleges and universities, the advanced collective of Shandong education enrollment examination, and the employment of college graduates in Shandong Work Advanced Collective, "March 8th" Red Flag Collective of Shandong Province, Shandong Province Workers' Professional Ethics Construction Advanced Unit, Shandong Province Foreign Affairs Work Advanced Unit, Shandong Province Fumin Xinglu Advanced Unit and other honorary titles.
