Qingdao Gangwan Vocational and Technical College

Qingdao Gangwan Vocational and Technical College is located in Qingdao West Coast New Economic Zone. It was established by the Ministry of Communications in 1975. It is a state-owned public full-time higher vocational college.



The school covers an area of more than 1,000 acres, with a building area of 230,000 square meters, and enrolls students from 27 provinces and cities across the country, with 12,000 students. There are five secondary colleges including Port College, Maritime College, Modern Logistics College, Intelligent Manufacturing College, and Information and Electrical Engineering College. There are eight major groups and 33 majors in modern logistics, port business, and navigation technology.

1. Deep integration, giving full play to the advantages of school-port integration



With the establishment of Shandong Port Group in 2019, the school has been deeply integrated into the development strategy of Shandong Port to build a world-class marine port. The road of cooperation in running schools further enlarges the advantages of the system and mechanism of “integration of school and port”, “runs the school in the port area, and moves the classroom to the dock”, innovates the development model of vocational education, and realizes the “learning and working, practical training” , Professionalization of students".

2. Based on port and shipping, strengthen the construction of specialties



In accordance with the development needs of the port and shipping industry and the regional economy, the school fully introduces industry and enterprise standards, strengthens professional construction, and strives to create characteristic majors. There are 21 national, provincial and municipal key and brand majors (groups). The school-running strengths of Hong Kong-related majors such as HAECO, Hong Kong Electric Power, Port Management and Hong Kong Engineering are leaders in the field of higher vocational education, and the proportion of students in port majors ranks first in the country.



The school is the only vocational construction contact point in the transportation industry among higher vocational colleges in the country. It is the only two port assessment and appraisal stations in the country. It has led the preparation of national standards for vocational skills and multi-process numerical control for 15 types of lifting and unloading machinery. A number of socially scarce national standards, such as the National Standards for Machine Tool Operation Adjustment Workers and the Professional Skills Standards for Waterway Dangerous Goods Transporters, have been approved as the first batch of social training evaluation organizations in Qingdao, and they have extensive influence and voice in the industry.



The school pays attention to foreign exchanges and cooperation, and establishes cooperative relations with domestic and foreign universities and organizations such as Dalian Maritime University and Singapore Seamen's Union.



3. Combination of work and study, innovative talent training model



The school innovates a diversified talent training model characterized by "school-enterprise interaction", takes professional ability and professional quality as the curriculum reform standard, realizes the connection between professional courses and professional standards, selects teaching content based on real cases and projects, and builds a national and provincial level 59 high-quality resource sharing courses.



The school and Shandong Port Group have realized in-depth talent circulation and two-way appointments, organized teachers to go to the front line of the port, practiced with the class, and cultivated a group of teachers with reasonable structure and high level. It also hired port technical experts represented by Xu Zhenchao as part-time jobs. Teachers, "dual teacher" quality teachers accounted for more than 80%. There are 9 provincial-level teaching teams, 14 national, provincial and municipal-level teaching teachers, who have won 18 provincial-level teaching achievement awards and 9 scientific and technological progress awards.



Relying on the platform advantages of Shandong Port Group, the school has built the "Shandong Port Safety Skills Training Base" and the "Shandong Dangerous Goods Waterway Transportation Practitioner Examination Center". Give full play to the role of the training base for electrical and electronic technology, logistics management, and automobile maintenance technology supported by the central government, and build the country’s first port terminal long-term training room, with the country’s only integrated campus of gate cranes, containers, and tire cranes. The large-scale port machinery equipment training base has invested in the construction of a modern intelligent manufacturing training base, a fluid handler training base, and built a national practice base for 258 port and shipping companies.



4. Diversified integration, highlighting social service functions



The school makes full use of the advantages of the vocational skills training and appraisal base to actively carry out enterprise employee education and vocational skills training appraisal. It has successively trained more than 100,000 employees for domestic and foreign ports, shipping and regional enterprises such as Shandong Port Group, China Foreign Affairs Corporation, and Singapore Seamen Association. Person-times, cultivating more than 60,000 social crew members. Initiated the establishment of the first domestic "Military Talent Skills Improvement Training Base", which has trained more than 4,000 officers and soldiers for the army. It has been rated as a key university for military-civilian integration in Shandong Province and is the only higher vocational college in the province that has obtained this qualification.



The school has established the Port Intelligent Technology Research Institute and the Port Economics and Shipping Logistics Research Institute. It has actively carried out corporate scientific and technological research, completed more than 130 technological transformation projects such as the optimization and transformation of 10,000 tons of grain storage capacity, and obtained container tire crane power supply devices and ore conveyor belts. 24 national patents including anti-tear device.
