Shanxi Old District Vocational and Technical College is a full-time comprehensive higher vocational college approved by the People's Government of Shanxi Province and filed by the Ministry of Education. It is qualified to issue national higher education diplomas.
The college implements a division of labor and responsibility system under the coordination of the board of directors, and has a party committee, administrative team, academic committee and labor union. In order to promote and inherit the spirit of the old area, the college established the "Old Area Spirit Research Center" and founded the school journal "Shanxi Old Area Vocational Education".
The college is located in Dongliu Street, Heping North Road, west of the Fen River in Taiyuan, the provincial capital, with a superior geographical location, convenient transportation and beautiful environment. After years of development, it has become a multi-specialty comprehensive vocational college with nursing, midwifery, medical beauty technology, acupuncture and massage technology, ophthalmology technology, rehabilitation technology, pharmacy, traditional Chinese medicine, marketing, 12 majors including accounting, tour guide and hotel management. The college is equipped with teaching equipment for teaching experiments and training of various majors, and the teaching methods are advanced. There are more than 80 hospitals and contracted units, which specialize in off-campus training and internships for students.
The college currently has 224 faculty members, including 171 full-time teachers, 44 teachers with the title of associate professor or above, 17 postgraduates, 9 professional leaders, and 103 "dual-qualified" teachers.
The college adheres to the school-running mission of "cultivating various professional skills for the medical and health undertakings and economic development of the revolutionary old area", and adheres to the development philosophy of "creating professional characteristics, improving the level of running a school, strengthening the foundation, solidifying the foundation, and combining production, education and research." Nursing and midwifery are brand majors, rehabilitation treatment technology majors and Shanxi General Rehabilitation Hospital are cooperating to run schools, clinical medicine higher vocational acupuncture and massage key construction majors, and ophthalmology, pharmacy, accounting and other majors are developing simultaneously. The college adheres to the educational philosophy of "education-oriented", actively guides students to carry out a variety of campus cultural activities, and provides a broad platform for students to show their versatility. Over the years, a large number of outstanding nursing workers have been trained for the society, and many of them have become the backbone of the second and third level medical and health institutions in and outside the province. The employment situation of students is good, and the average annual employment rate has steadily increased, which has been widely recognized by employers.
