Shanxi Railway Vocational and Technical College (Shanxi Railway Vocational and Technical College), located in Taiyuan City, Shanxi Province, is a full-time general higher vocational school approved by the Shanxi Provincial People's Government. The predecessor of the college was the Shanxi Provincial Light Industry School, which was founded in 1958. In January 1959, the Shanxi Provincial Light Industry College was approved by the Shanxi Provincial People’s Committee. In 1961, it merged with the Shanxi Provincial Textile Industry School. In 1998, it was approved as a provincial and ministerial-level key technical secondary school by the provincial government. In 2003, with the approval of the provincial government, Shanxi Provincial Light Industry School merged with five other technical secondary schools to form Shanxi Comprehensive Vocational and Technical College, and Shanxi Light Industry School was renamed as Shanxi Comprehensive Vocational and Technical College Light Industry Branch. In 2009, it was renamed Shanxi Vocational and Technical College of Light Industry and independently held higher vocational education. In March 2020, it was renamed Shanxi Railway Vocational and Technical College.
