Changzhi Medical College

Changzhi Medical College is a full-time general higher medical school in Shanxi Province. It is located in Changzhi City, Shanxi Province, known as the red capital and charming city. It is located at the junction of Taihang, Taiyue hinterland and the three provinces of Shanxi, Hebei and Henan. An important base for personnel training, medical services, and medical research, and a main window for foreign exchanges and cooperation.

The school was founded in 1946, and its predecessor was the nursing school run by the "Bethune International Peace Hospital General Hospital of Jinji Luyu Military Region". Founded by hand, it is one of the earliest medical schools established by the Communist Party of China. In 1948, it was rebuilt as "Bethune International Peace Medical College", in 1958 it was renamed "Jindongnan Medical College", and in 1986 it was upgraded to an undergraduate college and renamed Changzhi Medical College. Passed the undergraduate teaching work qualification evaluation in 1996; passed the undergraduate teaching work level evaluation in 2004. In 2011, it was approved by the Academic Degrees Committee of the State Council as a pilot unit for training graduate students with a master's degree in clinical medicine. In 2012, it was the first to pass the clinical medicine certification of the Ministry of Education among similar colleges and universities in the country. In 2016, it was included in the basic capacity building project for universities in the central and western regions of the country. In the 73-year history of running a school, the school has inherited the red gene, assumed the historical mission, upheld the fine tradition of “face to the grassroots, moral education first”, adhered to the school philosophy of “emphasis on quality, practice, and characteristics”, and formed The long-term medicine spirit with "honor and excellence, helping the world and serving the country" as the core has cultivated nearly 50,000 outstanding medical talents for the society.

Since its development, the school has formed a school-running pattern in which medicine, engineering, liberal arts, sciences, education, management, and art are mutually infiltrated and developed in a coordinated manner. It has built a multi-level talent training system integrating graduate education, undergraduate education and continuing education. There are 19 teaching colleges (departments) and 20 undergraduate majors. There are 11678 students, including 238 postgraduates, 9814 undergraduates, and 1626 adult students. There are two campuses, the main campus and Wulong campus, covering an area of 718.93 acres and a building area of 475,800 square meters. The total value of fixed assets has reached 1.556 billion yuan, of which the total value of teaching and research equipment is 654 million yuan.

The school currently has 4,677 employees (944 in the school headquarters, 2512 in the Affiliated Peace Hospital, 1221 in the Affiliated Heji Hospital), 791 full-time teachers, 1232 teachers with master's degree, 155 teachers with doctoral degree, and teachers with senior professional titles 414 people. There are 252 tutors for master's degree postgraduates in clinical medicine and 98 external part-time master tutors. The internal medicine teaching team is a national-level teaching team, and the pharmacology teaching team is a provincial-level excellent teaching team.

The school has national characteristic specialty construction sites and 2 Shanxi Province brand majors, 4 Shanxi Province characteristic majors, and Shanxi Province advantage characteristic majors; 1 national-level quality resource sharing course, 5 provincial-level quality courses, and provincial-level quality products. There are 4 resource sharing courses; 1 first batch of key laboratories in universities in Shanxi Province, 7 demonstration laboratories in Shanxi Province, and 1 provincial-level virtual simulation experiment center. It has 2 directly affiliated third-level A-level affiliated hospitals, 9 non-directly affiliated hospitals, and more than 100 practice teaching bases. The clinical medicine major is a pilot major for the comprehensive reform of the "Undergraduate Teaching Project" of the Ministry of Education. In 2011, the school was approved by the Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Health to become the first batch of pilot universities in the country's outstanding doctor education and training program. Clinical medicine is the dominant characteristic discipline of the "1331 Project" in Shanxi Province; internal medicine is the key construction discipline of Shanxi Province; the "Basic and Clinical Research on Gastrointestinal Tumors" team is the key innovation team of the "1331 Project" in Shanxi Province; "Integrated Prevention and Treatment of Digestive Tract Tumors" "Discipline group" is the service industry innovation discipline group of Shanxi Province. In the past five years, the school has undertaken a total of 417 scientific research projects of various types, including 8 national natural science fund projects and 185 provincial and ministerial scientific research projects. Published 2749 papers, 299 were collected by SCI; teachers published 162 academic monographs.

The school insists on opening up schools, continuously strengthens foreign cooperation and exchanges, and has successively selected 71 people to go abroad for visiting research and academic exchanges. It has established friendly cooperative relations with many universities, medical and health and scientific research institutions in the United States, Britain, France, New Zealand, Australia, Japan, South Korea, Montenegro and other countries. At the same time, it has signed a memorandum of understanding or agreement on cooperation with Rockford College in the United States, Daejeon University of Health Sciences in South Korea, the University of Aberdeen in the United Kingdom, the University of Adelaide in Australia, the University of Montenegro School of Medicine, and the University of Western Australia in Australia. More than 30 influential academic conferences and lectures have been held, such as the Sino-US International Symposium on Cardiovascular Diseases, Taihang·International Gastrointestinal Tumor Minimally Invasive Summit Forum, and the Sixth International Symposium on Microtransplantation and Cellular Immunotherapy.
