North University of China

North University of China is a multidisciplinary teaching and research university jointly established by the Shanxi Provincial People's Government and the National Defense Science and Technology Industry Bureau and managed by the Shanxi Provincial People's Government. The predecessor of the school was the Taihang Industrial School, the first ordnance school of our party and our army established by the Eighth Route Army Headquarters in the Taihang Anti-Japanese Base in 1941, and was known as the "First School of People's Army".


The school is located in Taiyuan City, Shanxi Province, a famous historical and cultural city in China. It has a complete teaching, scientific research equipment and public service system. It covers an area of 2,995 acres, a building area of 1.23 million square meters, a total fixed asset value of nearly 3.5 billion yuan, and teaching and research equipment. The total value is 819 million yuan. The school has a paper library with more than 2.3 million copies, nearly 1.36 million e-books, and 56 well-known Chinese and foreign database resources. In December 2020, the General Office of the Shanxi Provincial Committee of the Communist Party of China and the General Office of the Shanxi Provincial Government issued the "Several Opinions on Supporting North University of China to Create a "Double First-Class" University" to promote North University of China to exert scientific research support in the construction of a first-class innovation ecology in the province Role.


The school currently has 1 national key (cultivation) discipline, 5 national defense characteristic disciplines (directions) of the National Defense Science and Technology Bureau in the 13th Five-Year Plan period, 24 provincial key disciplines, 1 first-class discipline in the "1331 Project" of Shanxi Province, and Shanxi Province. 1331 Project" has 1 advantageous characteristic discipline, 2 Shanxi Province Advantage Discipline Climbing Plan Supporting Discipline, and Shanxi Province Service Industry Innovation Discipline Group. There are 6 post-doctoral mobile stations, 7 first-level disciplines authorized for doctoral degree, 24 doctoral programs, 23 first-level disciplines authorized for master's degree, 64 master's programs, and master's professional degree authorization sites involve 5 categories, 13 fields, undergraduates 85 majors. The Engineering Discipline Group, Materials Science Discipline Group, and Chemistry Discipline Group rank among the top 1% in the world, and the instrument science and technology discipline was rated B+ in the fourth round of national first-level discipline evaluation.


The school has 2727 faculty members, including 1965 full-time teachers, 281 professors, and 551 associate professors. The doctoral rate of teachers is 59.32%. There are 68 national-level talents, including academicians of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, double-employed academicians, national-level senior experts, winners of the National Outstanding Youth Science Fund, winners of the National Outstanding Youth Science Fund, national teaching teachers, and national model teachers. 9 teams and collectives, 11 provincial innovation teams, 45 experts enjoying special allowances from the State Council, 7 members of the National University Teaching Steering Committee, 20 experts from the National Defense Science and Technology Bureau and the General Armament Department, senior officials in contact with the Central and Provincial Committees 25 experts.


The school recruits students from 31 provinces, municipalities and autonomous regions across the country, and has enrolled students in 29 provinces. There are nearly 39,000 full-time students, including more than 4,000 doctoral and master students. The school was selected into the "Outstanding Engineer Education and Training Program of the Ministry of Education" and the "Basic Capacity Building Project for Universities in the Midwest". It has high-quality teaching resources such as national quality courses, national experimental teaching demonstration center, national virtual simulation experimental teaching center, national college student cultural quality education base, national engineering practice education center, and national first-class majors. The school is the first batch of master's degree granting units in the country. It has 8 provincial graduate education innovation centers and 6 provincial graduate joint training bases. It has the qualification to recommend outstanding undergraduate graduates to study for graduate students without exams. In 2018, it cooperated with the Dezhou Municipal Government. Founded the Texas Graduate School of North University of China.


The school fully implements the fundamental task of cultivating people with morality, solidly promotes the comprehensive reform of the "Three Comprehensive Education", and builds the "Top Ten Education System." Adhere to the "student-centered" philosophy of running a school, comprehensively deepen the comprehensive reform of undergraduate education, and build a pyramid-shaped talent training model with North-China characteristics, an innovative and entrepreneurial education talent training and construction system, and innovation and entrepreneurship education, military culture education, and practice A new pattern of educating people with multi-dimensional and integrated characteristics such as educating people and labor educating people. The school was approved as the second batch of demonstration universities in the country to deepen innovation and entrepreneurship education reform, successfully applied for the Shanxi Province Double Innovation Demonstration Base, and ranked 66 in the 2016-2020 National College Student Competition Ranking. In the 2020 China University Alumni Association's 2020 Quality Ranking of Innovative Talent Cultivation, we will advance to the top 100. In the 2020 International College Students Mathematical Contest in Modeling, Shanxi Province won the Grand Prize and AMS Award for the first time, and as the only domestic university to win the highest award SIAM Award.


The school adheres to the military-civilian integration as a school strategy that leads the development of connotation, and has formed significant advantages in the training of national defense military talents, national defense scientific and technological collaborative innovation, and the transformation and incubation of scientific and technological achievements. At present, the school has 5 key national defense disciplines during the 13th Five-Year Plan period, ranking first among local co-constructed universities. It has national defense scientific research platforms such as national defense science and technology key laboratories, key discipline laboratories, and advanced technology engineering centers. The number of major special projects and funding of the National Defense Innovation Plan have been rising. The school always regards the transformation of military-civilian integration achievements as an important measure to serve the local area and national defense, and actively promotes the transformation of military-civilian integration achievements, research and development and industrialization. It has selected and actively promoted more than 40 industrialized and promising military-civilian integration achievements on-site transformation . At the same time, the school actively builds a new military-civilian integration talent training system, creates a campus military industry culture, and embarks on a road of military-civilian integration characteristics of talent training.


To adapt to the national innovation-driven development strategy needs, form a problem-oriented, collaborative innovation, military-civilian integration, and dynamic scientific and technological innovation mechanism, comprehensively strengthen the service of national defense and serve local areas, and highlight the ability of scientific and technological innovation and service to society. There are 59 scientific research institutions at or above the provincial and ministerial level, as well as science and technology industry incubation bases such as Shanxi North China National University Science and Technology Park. There are research institutions such as the Military-civilian Integration Collaborative Innovation Research Institute, the Advanced Energy Materials and Systems Research Institute, the Special Metal Materials and Equipment Research Institute, and the Frontier Cross Science Research Institute.


In the past ten years, it has undertaken 409 national-level projects, with a total of more than 4850 projects of various types. The total funding for scientific research projects is more than 3.66 billion yuan, including 721 million yuan for scientific research in 2020. He has won 2 second prizes of National Science and Technology Invention Award, 3 second prizes of National Science and Technology Progress Award, 124 provincial and ministerial science and technology awards, published nearly 5200 SCI papers, and published more than 390 academic monographs and textbooks. Scientific research results are widely used in national manned spaceflight, deep space exploration, major weapon models, etc. There are more than 70 achievements in "Shenzhou", "Chang'e", "Tiangong", "Beidou", "Fuxing", "Hong Kong Zhuhai" "Australia Bridge" and other major national projects.


The school has continuously expanded its channels for running schools, and jointly established the Taiyuan Institute of Energy and Materials, University of Chinese Academy of Sciences, with the University of Chinese Academy of Sciences, Taiyuan City and Shanxi Institute of Coal Chemistry. Signed a strategic cooperation agreement with Beijing Institute of Technology, signed a deepened cooperation agreement with Xi’an Jiaotong University, signed a science and technology cooperation agreement with Tsinghua University, and signed a cooperation agreement with the School of Software and Microelectronics of Peking University. Facing the Yangtze River Delta, the Nantong Intelligent Opto-Mechanical Research Institute of North University of China will be built in Nantong City, Jiangsu Province. Set up Advanced Materials and Intelligent Equipment Research Institute in Jincheng City, set up Industrial Technology Research Institute in Yuncheng City, Jinzhong City, Changzhi City, and Xinzhou City, and jointly build Semiconductor Institute and Semiconductor Industry Technology Research Institute with Xinzhou City Government, and the Provincial Civil Air Defense Office Jointly build the Civil Defense Science and Technology College, and the Taiyuan Central Hospital to build a medical-industrial integration innovation research institute. Co-build the Zhongbei Xinchuang Industrial Base with Taiyuan Zhongbei High-tech Industrial Development Zone, and jointly build the "Shanxi Information Technology Application Innovation Research Institute" and "Xinchuang Industry College" with Shanxi Baixin, together with Great Wall Computer Company and Shanxi Branch of China Construction Bank Create the "1+1+1" Xinchuang Industrial Ecological Alliance, and jointly build the Aviation Industry Technology Research Institute and the General Aviation Industry College with Shanxi Aviation Industry Group.
