Dalian Vocational and Technical College is an institution of higher learning directly under the Dalian Municipal People's Government and one of the 100 "National Demonstrative Higher Vocational Colleges" in the country. In 2018, the school successfully ranked among the high-level modern higher vocational colleges and high-level characteristic professional group project construction units in Liaoning Province. In February 2019, the municipal party committee and government decided to optimize the integration between Dalian Vocational and Technical College and Dalian Radio and Television University.
The school has four campuses: Xiajiahezi, Nanguanling, Puwan and Baiyun. There are three secondary technical secondary schools affiliated to Dalian Electronic School, Dalian Construction School and Dalian Ocean School. The school covers a total area of 1.032 million square meters, with a total construction area of 584,000 square meters. The school currently has 12,731 full-time students. There are 809 faculty members, including 74 with senior titles and 214 with deputy senior titles. The school offers 39 majors in 9 major categories, including equipment manufacturing, civil engineering, biology and chemical engineering, finance and commerce, electronic information, education and sports, transportation, tourism, public management and services. The school currently has 7 national-level demonstration majors, 1 national-level teaching reform pilot major, 2 national "Higher Vocational Schools to Improve Professional Service Industry Development Capability Project", and 8 key majors of the "Higher Vocational Education Innovation Development Action Plan" project. There are 6 “Provincial Vocational Education Demonstration Majors Connecting with Industrial Clusters in Liaoning Province”, 13 brand majors in Liaoning Province, 4 high-level characteristic professional group construction projects in Liaoning Province, and 17 1+X certificate system pilot projects.
The school has 19 training centers and 189 training rooms (districts) including modern equipment manufacturing technology, modern electronic technology, modern automobile technology and modern service industry. Among them, the modern equipment manufacturing technology training center, the elderly care training center, and the software technology training base are the national "vocational education training bases" supported by the central government. The school has also vigorously promoted the construction of an on-campus teaching and training base of "front factory and back school". A number of bases such as the Jingdong Mall Campus Training Center, the Accounting and Bookkeeping Factory, the Automobile External Technical Service Center, and the Hong Kong Internet Cube School Factory have begun to take shape. At present, there are 1,196 school-enterprise cooperative enterprises and 30 order classes. The school also promoted the grouping of vocational education to run schools, and took the lead in the formation of the Dalian Smart Health and Elderly Care Industry Education Alliance and the Preschool Education Alliance.
