Liaoning Institute of Science and Technology

Liaoning Institute of Science and Technology is located in Shenxi New City, Liaoning Province, 20 kilometers away from Shenyang Taoxian International Airport. It is a provincial general undergraduate college that focuses on engineering and develops multi-disciplinary coordination. The school’s predecessor, Benxi Metallurgical College, can be traced back to the Benxi County Normal School, which was established in 1907. After the liberation of Northeast China in 1948, the People's Government took over the school and changed its name to Benxi Engineering Senior Vocational School. In 1958, it was upgraded to Benxi Iron and Steel Institute. In May 2004, it was renamed Liaoning Institute of Science and Technology. In 2015, the school was identified as one of the first batch of undergraduate pilot schools in Liaoning Province to transform to application-oriented. In 2016, it was identified as a key university supported by the Ministry of Education for the construction of an industry-education integration project. U.S. Applied Technology Education "Double Hundred Plan" pilot colleges and "Internet + Made in China 2025" production-education integration promotion program pilot colleges, were identified as the first in the country in the Ministry of Education's "Scientific Capability Enhancement Program (Ten Million Project)" in 2017 The first batch of pilot universities in the “Hundred Cities, Thousand Schools” of the China University Innovation and Entrepreneurship Education Alliance, Liaoning Province has transformed into an application-oriented model school.


   The school occupies an area of 871,000 square meters, with a construction area of 390,000 square meters. In recent years, it has undertaken a total of 673 scientific research projects of various types, including 18 projects from the National Natural Science Foundation of China and the National Science and Technology Support Plan, and 172 projects above the provincial level.
