Shenyang Agricultural University is located in Shenyang, a national historical and cultural city, adjacent to the World Cultural Heritage Qingfu Mausoleum in the east, facing Shenshui Hunhe River in the south, and Tianzhu Mountain in the north, covering an area of 10246 mu. The campus has an elegant environment, beautiful scenery, strong cultural atmosphere, and excellent teaching and scientific research conditions.
The history of Shenyang Agricultural University can be traced back to the provincial Fengtian Agricultural School in 1906. In 1952, colleges and universities across the country were adjusted, and the new Shenyang Agricultural College was established on the basis of some departments of the Agricultural College of Fudan University and Northeast Agricultural College. In 1979, it was approved by the State Council as a national key institution of higher learning. In 1981, it became the first batch of units with the right to grant doctorate and master degrees. In 2000, it was transferred from the Ministry of Agriculture to a national key university mainly managed by Liaoning and jointly established by the central and local governments.
Under the guidance of the party's education policy, several generations of Shennong people have succeeded, pioneering and innovating, and various undertakings of the school have continued to grow and develop. Especially since the "13th Five-Year Plan", the school party committee has always adhered to the guidance of Xi Jinping’s new era of socialism with Chinese characteristics and the spirit of the 19th National Congress of the Communist Party of China. The school has a relatively complete agricultural education and scientific research system. There are 16 colleges, 4 teaching departments (centers, institutes), 8 post-doctoral research mobile stations, 10 first-level disciplines for doctoral degree authorization, 72 doctoral degree-granting majors, 114 master's degree-granting majors, 58 undergraduate majors; 3 national key disciplines and 3 key disciplines of the Ministry of Agriculture. The school was selected as a domestic first-class university in Liaoning Province, 2 disciplines were selected into the ranks of 20 world-class disciplines in Liaoning Province, and 5 disciplines were selected as the ranks of domestic first-class disciplines. There are 94 scientific research institutions above the provincial level, including the National Engineering Laboratory, the National and Local Joint Engineering Laboratory, the New Rural Development Research Institute approved by the Ministry of Science and Technology and the Ministry of Education, and 19 basic laboratories and experimental teaching centers.

As the only agricultural undergraduate college in Liaoning Province, the school keeps its mission in mind, and always aims at farmers' "rice bags", "vegetable baskets", "fruit plates", "meat stalls" and "milk jars" to make big contributions, and vigorously strengthen the research on rural revitalization. The construction of the institute has provided strong scientific and technological and talent support for major livelihood needs such as "food security" and "non-staple food supply" in Liaoning, Northeast China and even the whole country.
