Dalian Ocean University is the only multi-disciplinary higher education institution in northern China that features marine and aquatic disciplines, and the coordinated development of agriculture, engineering, science, management, literature, law, economics, and arts. The school was founded in 1952, formerly known as Northeast Fisheries Technical School. In 1958, it was upgraded to Dalian Fisheries Technical College, and in 1978 it was upgraded to Dalian Fisheries College. In 2000, it was transferred to Liaoning Province for management by the Ministry of Agriculture. In 2010, it was renamed Dalian Ocean University with the approval of the Ministry of Education.
The school is located in the beautiful coastal city of Dalian. There are three campuses: Huanghai Campus, Bohai Campus and Wafangdian Campus, covering an area of 740,000 square meters, with a sea area of 670,000 square meters for teaching and scientific research, and a total construction area of 400,000 square meters.
