Shenyang University of Technology is a multidisciplinary research and application-oriented university focusing on engineering. It was founded in 1949. In 1985, it was renamed Shenyang University of Technology from Shenyang Institute of Mechanical and Electrical Technology. Jointly built by the central and local governments, with the management of Liaoning Province as the mainstay, it was listed as the key support university in Liaoning Province's impact on domestic first-class universities in the "double first-class" construction.


The school consists of the Central Campus, Xingshun Campus, National University Science and Technology Park in Shenyang City, Liaoning Province, and Liaoyang Branch Campus in Liaoyang City. The main location of the school is located in Tiexi District, Shenyang City, which is known as the "Oriental Ruhr". The central campus (main campus) is located in the national economic and technological development zone where the equipment manufacturing industry gathers in Shenyang, adjacent to the strategic docking between Made in China 2025 and German Industry 4.0.
