The predecessor of the Shenyang Conservatory of Music was the Lu Xun Academy of Art, which was initiated in Yan'an by the older generation of proletarian revolutionaries such as Mao Zedong and Zhou Enlai in 1938. It was the first higher art academy founded by the Communist Party of China. , Humbly" school motto. After the victory of the Anti-Japanese War, the college moved from Yan'an to the northeast, and in 1949 it was renamed the Northeast Luxun Academy of Literature and Art. In 1953, on the basis of the Music Department of the Northeast Luxun Academy of Arts and Sciences, the Northeast Music College was established. In 1958, it was renamed the Shenyang Conservatory of Music.
Since the establishment of the institute, the institute has always taken the prosperity of national music culture and serving the people as its own responsibility, and has made outstanding contributions in various historical stages of national independence and people's liberation, socialist revolution, reform and opening up, and socialist modernization. The college has cultivated tens of thousands of music and dance talents for the country, and created a large number of socially influential groups such as "The Yellow River Cantata", "Revolutionaries Are Always Young", "We Are Walking on the Road", "My Motherland and Me". Music works have made important contributions to my country's cultural undertakings and higher art education. Through the joint efforts of several generations of Shenyin people, the college has continued to grow and develop, and has made considerable progress and development in discipline construction and professional development, education and teaching reform and management, talent training and faculty construction, scientific research and artistic practice.
currently has four campuses: Miyoshi Campus, Changqing Campus, Taoxian Campus, and Dalian Campus. The college takes undergraduate and postgraduate education as the main body, and also has affiliated secondary music school and affiliated secondary dance school. It has 14 undergraduate majors in the arts category of music and dance, drama and film and television, art theory, and design. The degree committee of the State Council granted two first-level master degrees in art theory, music and dance, and the first batch of masters of arts (MFA) authorized by the degree committee of the State Council. In 2017, "Music and Dance" was approved as a first-class construction discipline in Liaoning Province.
The college was identified by the Ministry of Education as a "college student cultural quality education base", "high school red classic art education demonstration base", and was awarded the title of "National School Art Education Advanced Unit", and was successively identified as "Liaoning Provincial Art Talent Training Base", "Liaoning Humanities and Social Sciences Key Research Base", "China National Vocal Music Teaching Practice Innovation Center", "Liaoning Provincial Colleges and Universities Luyi Music Culture Research Institute".
