Jilin Transportation Vocational and Technical College is the first independent higher vocational college in Jilin Province approved by the National Education Commission in March 1998. It is a transportation-oriented, and also includes construction machinery, management, electronic information, economics, foreign languages, etc. National backbone higher vocational colleges that support each other and coordinate the development of majors. The predecessor of the college was established by the merger of Jilin Provincial Communications School (founded in 1958) and Jilin Communications Workers College. It covers an area of 220,000 square meters and a building area of 139,000 square meters. In 2010, it was identified by the Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Finance as the first batch of backbone higher vocational colleges in the "National Demonstrative Higher Vocational College Construction Plan". In 2013, it successfully passed the national key school construction acceptance.
As a shining brand of higher vocational education in Jilin Province, for many years, the college has adhered to the school management strategy of “administering the school according to law, prospering the school, strengthening the school with talents, maintaining the school with diligence and frugality, and keeping the school clean and honest”. Strengthening, the quality of personnel training continues to improve, and it has entered the fast lane of development. There are 6668 full-time students and 385 full-time teachers, of which 85% are dual-qualified teachers, 265 part-time teachers outside the school, 31 professors, and 118 associate professors. There are 4 "Changbai Mountain Skilled Teachers" awarded by the provincial government, 18 professional discipline leaders, 5 national transportation higher vocational education professional leaders, and a group of part-time teachers with entrepreneurs as the main body.
At present, the college has 8 colleges (branch) including the School of Road and Bridge Engineering, the School of Automotive Engineering, the School of Management Engineering, the School of Electronic Information, the School of Engineering Machinery, the School of Applied Foreign Languages, the School of Rail Transit, and the Branch of Continuing Education, as well as the Department of Basic Science , Department of Ideological and Political Theory Teaching, Department of Physical Education, 3 school-enterprise cooperative education units and 1 international cooperative education unit-Changchun Delta International Business School; The diversified schooling pattern of vocational skills training, school-enterprise cooperation and international cooperative education.
The college has successively opened road and bridge engineering technology, engineering cost, urban rail transit, automobile inspection and maintenance technology, automotive service and marketing, automotive electronics technology, motor vehicle insurance and claims, construction machinery control technology, computer network technology, e-commerce, logistics 40 majors including management. There are 2 national-level key majors, 8 provincial-level demonstration majors, and 5 provincial-level characteristic professional groups. There are 2 national quality courses, 15 provincial quality courses, 41 provincial excellent courses, and 6 provincial excellent teaching teams.
In 2009, the college took the lead in establishing the first vocational education group in our province—Jilin Transportation Vocational Education Group, which built an organic operation mode of school-enterprise management, and formed a "factory in a school", a "school in a factory", and a "crown school". Talent training models such as “name order” have established a school-enterprise cooperation system guarantee and a long-term mechanism for win-win cooperation, improved the school running level and talent training quality of the college, promoted in-depth school-enterprise cooperation and student employment, and the annual employment rate of graduates At the forefront of higher vocational colleges, the demand for employment of key professional graduates exceeds demand. It has been known as the "Huangpu" of Jilin's transportation industry and has won wide acclaim from all walks of life. The college has been awarded as an advanced unit by the provincial government as an advanced unit of "Laws on Campus", and awarded as a "Model School for the Management of Schools by Law" by the Provincial Department of Education.
