Founded in 1958, Jilin Institute of Physical Education is located in Changchun City, Jilin Province with a beautiful environment and four distinct seasons. It is the only higher sports college in Jilin Province. With the comprehensive advancement of the reform of the higher education management system, in 2004, with the approval of the People's Government of Jilin Province, the original Jilin Province Sports School was merged into the Jilin Institute of Physical Education. In the past sixty years since its establishment, Jilin Institute of Physical Education has trained tens of thousands of sports professionals at all levels and types for the country and society, and has made important contributions to the development of national and regional sports and economic and social development.
The school has two campuses, Nanling and Linhe, covering an area of 627,000 square meters. There are nearly 600 faculty members and more than 7,000 full-time students of various types. The school has a master's degree authorization point for the first-level discipline of physical education, a master's degree authorization point for physical education and a master's degree authorization point for the arts. It has 1 first-level discipline (covering 4 second-level disciplines) and 2 second-level provincial-level key disciplines. 10 undergraduate majors, covering five disciplines including education, management, art, science, and law. The school’s high-level sports teams such as boxing, Sanda, skiing, taekwondo, shooting, archery, swimming, and sports dance have achieved a series of outstanding results in major competitions at home and abroad.
