The School of Optoelectronic Information, Changchun University of Science and Technology was founded in 2001 and was confirmed as an independent college by the Ministry of Education in 2004. There are now 9,686 students, 554 full-time teachers, 388 with postgraduate education, accounting for 70.04% of the total number of full-time teachers; 281 with associate senior professional and technical positions or above, accounting for 50.72% of the total number of full-time teachers, including full-time professors 97 people in positions. Professor Yao Jianquan, an academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, a Chinese laser and optoelectronics scientist, and a doctoral tutor of Tianjin University, was appointed as the honorary dean of our school to personally guide the construction of the school's disciplines and faculty.
The main campus of the college is located in the Changchun Equipment Manufacturing Industry Development Zone, and the branch campus is located in the Changchun High-tech Industrial Development Zone. The campus covers a total area of 701,060 square meters and a total construction area of 299,767.34 square meters. In recent years, the college has successively won honorary titles such as "Changchun City's Spiritual Civilization Construction Advanced Unit", "May 1st Labor Certificate", "Jilin Province's Demonstration School for School Management in accordance with the Law" awarded by the Changchun Municipal Party Committee and the Municipal Government. In 2010, the college was rated as the National Excellent Private Higher Education School by the Higher Education Professional Committee of the China Private Education Association. In 2018, the college ranked among the "Top 18 Chinese Independent Colleges" by the Ereshen China Alumni Association, ranked first in the comprehensive ranking of independent colleges in Jilin Province, and was named "China's Top Independent Colleges". The college was awarded the title of "Sub-council of Optoelectronic Information College of Jilin Province National Reading Association" and "Science University Demonstration Base" by Jilin Province National Reading Association.
The chairman of the college, Wang Sidi, graduated from University College London, and is currently the chairman of Changchun Zhongguang Education Investment Co., Ltd., the chairman of the Optoelectronic Information College of Changchun University of Science and Technology, the chairman of Jilin Zhongguang Technician College, the standing member of the Jilin Provincial Youth Joint Committee, and the Jilin Province Vice Chairman of the Youth Committee of the Federation of Returned Overseas Chinese, Chairman of the Jilin Province Federation of Returned Returnees, member of the Jilin Province CPPCC, and representative of the People's Congress of Kuancheng District, Changchun City.

The college has six disciplines including engineering, science, literature, economics, management, and art, and 31 undergraduate majors, including 18 engineering majors, accounting for 58.06% of the total undergraduate majors. The college has Optoelectronics Science Branch, Optoelectronic Engineering Branch, Electronic Engineering Branch, Information Engineering Branch, Mechanical and Electrical Engineering Branch, Economic Management Branch, Language and Literature Branch, Media Art Institute, Basic Teaching Department, Marxism and Socialist Culture with Chinese Characteristics, etc.10 Teaching units.
The college now has 2 provincial-level characteristic majors, 2 provincial-level excellent teaching teams, 6 provincial-level quality courses, 21 provincial-level excellent courses, 3 provincial-level experimental teaching demonstration centers, 2 provincial-level engineering centers, and provincial-level 1 key laboratory. In the past three years, our institute has undertaken a total of 108 provincial and ministerial (including) teaching and research projects, published 381 papers in academic journals at or above the provincial level (including), won 16 educational research achievement awards, and won the third prize of provincial teaching achievement 2 items, 22 textbooks have been published, and 51 patents have been authorized. To deepen the integration of production and education, our college has established school-enterprise partnerships with 115 companies, implemented in-depth cooperation with many companies, and established the "Huawei Information and Network Technology Institute" in cooperation with Huawei-Xunfang; and co-built with Beijing Shangguan Technology Co., Ltd. Established "Shangguan College"; signed a strategic agreement with Jilin Province General Machinery Manufacturing Co., Ltd. to set up an "engineer" class; co-founded a university-enterprise-vocational school with Changchun Hexin Machinery Technology Co., Ltd. and Henan Xinxiang Vocational and Technical College A new model of cooperation, with high-quality educational resources to win 3 million shares of Hexin Machinery; build a training base with Oracle Co., Ltd. The college will cooperate with industry enterprises to build education groups, industry enterprise colleges, characteristic professional clusters, and "engineers and accountant classes" to train talents for large enterprises.
Our hospital actively expands international cooperation. In 2016, 11 new projects were signed, and inter-university partnerships were established with 13 universities in 7 countries and regions. Signed an inter-school cooperation agreement with Cheongju University in South Korea for joint training of undergraduates, and successfully opened an English-Korean polyphonic experimental class at Cheongju University in South Korea. Co-organized training courses in the United States with the University of California, Riverside. In 2017, our school welcomed the first international student to come to our school to study international Chinese courses.
The college’s enrollment and employment are booming, and the average enrollment score is 50 points higher than that of Jilin Province’s three main lines. The graduates have been widely praised by the society. Up to now, our college has trained and delivered 21,410 professional and technical talents for the country, and the average employment rate of graduates in the past three years has reached 95.37%. Graduates are widely distributed in various fronts such as China Aerospace Science and Technology Corporation, FAW Group, Haier Group, Neusoft Group, government agencies, enterprises and institutions. The college has 1,625 graduates successively admitted to Harvard University, Zhejiang University, Jilin University and other well-known universities and research institutes at home and abroad, with an average postgraduate entrance examination rate of 7.59% over the years.
