Jilin Institute of Chemical Technology was established in 1958 and is located in Jilin City, the beautiful northern city of Jiangxi. It is the only chemical college in Jilin Province. The school has outstanding advantages in chemical engineering and cooperation in production, education and research. There are nearly 16,000 full-time students at the school. The majors cover 5 disciplines of engineering, science, economics, management, and literature. The school is a national "Excellent Engineer Education and Training Program" university. It currently has 1 pilot program for comprehensive reform of the Ministry of Education, 2 national specialty programs, 18 branded majors, specialty programs, and transformation reform pilot programs in Jilin Province, and national off-campus practical education. 1 center, 2 provincial-level off-campus practice education centers, 6 provincial-level experimental teaching demonstration centers, 1 provincial-level college student innovation practice demonstration base, and 5 provincial-level talent training model innovation experimental areas. In 2009, the chemical engineering and technology major became the first major in the national local colleges and universities to pass the national engineering education professional certification. The school implements the strategy of strengthening the school with talents. In 2017, the first batch of enrollment plans for the undergraduate international class of mechanical design, manufacturing and automation jointly run by the school and Cleveland State University in the United States was successfully completed.
