The predecessor of Jilin Agricultural University was the Agricultural Cadre School established in Heilongjiang Province in 1948 by the Western Conference Bureau of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China. In 1958, the Preparatory Office of Bei'an Agricultural College, Changchun University of Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Medicine, and Changchun Agricultural College merged to form Changchun Agricultural College.
