The school is a high-level application-oriented university with characteristics of Jilin Province. It is a university jointly built by the People’s Government of Jilin Province and the Ministry of Emergency Management. Profound heritage, steady and far-reaching. The history of the school can be traced back to the early days of the founding of the People’s Republic of China. From 1951 to 1953, Changchun Senior Vocational School of Civil Engineering, Changchun Surveying and Geological Technology School and Changchun Hydropower Engineering School were established successively. Management by the Ministry of Metallurgical Industry, Ministry of Water Resources and Electric Power, and China Nonferrous Metals Industry Corporation. In the 1960s, Changchun Hydropower Engineering School was upgraded and renamed Jilin Institute of Water Conservancy and Hydropower to hold undergraduate education.
