Changchun Normal University is located in the beautiful Northland Spring City—Changchun. It is an important training base for basic education, pre-school education teachers and applied high-level specialized talents in Jilin Province. The predecessor of was the official Changchun Normal School, which was founded in 1906 (the 32nd year of Guangxu). It is the birthplace of normal education in Jilin Province. For more than a hundred years, in different historical periods, the school has been renamed Changchun Fu School, Changchun County Normal School, Jichang Daoli Normal School, Jilin Provincial Second Normal School (referred to as the Second Normal School), and Changchun Normal School. In 1958, the municipal government established Changchun Teachers College on the basis of Changchun Normal School. In 1981, the school was approved as Changchun Normal University, and in 2013 it was renamed Changchun Normal University.
The school is known as the "Changchun Revolutionary Base Camp" and "Cradle of the Changchun Revolution".
