Jiangxi Vocational College of Biotechnology

Jiangxi Biotechnology Vocational College (hereinafter referred to as the college) is an agricultural higher vocational college affiliated to the Department of Agriculture and Rural Affairs of Jiangxi Province. 1. School development history


Jiangxi Vocational College of Biotechnology can be traced back to the Central Technical Department of Jiangxi Agricultural College in 1952. In 1956, Nanchang Animal Husbandry and Veterinary School was established on the basis of the Chinese Ministry of Technology. In 1958, Nanchang Animal Husbandry and Veterinary School merged with Jiangxi Provincial Agricultural Cadre School, Jiangxi Agricultural Economics School, and Jiangxi Agricultural Machinery School to form Jiangxi Agricultural School. In 1968, Jiangxi Agricultural School was closed. In 1980, Jiangxi Animal Husbandry and Fisheries School was established. In April 2000, the school was established as a "provincial and ministerial-level key technical secondary school". In June 2003, it was upgraded to a higher vocational college and renamed Jiangxi Biotechnology Vocational College with the approval of the Jiangxi Provincial People's Government.


The college was recognized as a modern agricultural technology training base by the Ministry of Agriculture in 2010, and has a national special vocational skill appraisal station. In April 2014, it became a model higher vocational college in Jiangxi Province. In 2018, it was rated as the National Excellent Adult Continuing Education and Training Institution, in April 2020 was recognized as a high-quality junior vocational college in Jiangxi Province. The college is a "double high" construction project unit for higher vocational education in Jiangxi Province, a national modern apprenticeship pilot unit, an advanced unit for higher teacher training in Jiangxi Province, a "national new-type professional farmer training demonstration base" by the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs, and grassroots agricultural technicians in Jiangxi Province Oriented training college.

(1) Scale and structure of students


At present, the college has a total of 13,146 students, including: 9654 full-time college students (excluding enrollment expansion), 1732 higher vocational enrollment expansion (social personnel), 1405 higher vocational enrollment expansion (high-quality farmers), five-year consistent system ( Secondary vocational stage) 355 people.

(3) Faculty


As of September 31, 2020, the college has 410 full-time teachers, including 85 with senior professional titles, 204 with postgraduate degree teachers, and 129 with "dual teacher" quality. There are 125 foreign teachers, 2 existing provincial-level college teaching teams, 1 national model teacher, 1 provincial academic leader, 4 provincial-level teaching teachers, 5 national agricultural vocational education teaching teachers, provincial-level middle-aged and young people There are 9 key teachers, and there are more than 20 teachers concurrently serving as vice-chairmen, chairmen, and standing directors of industry societies and associations. (4) Subject and professional setting


The school focuses on the rural revitalization strategy and the requirements of serving the construction of the inland open economic experimental zone in Jiangxi Province, and adjusts its professional settings in the direction of cultivating the socially scarce modern agriculture field and the key development of Jiangxi Province’s electronic information, equipment manufacturing and other fields. Among them, there are 14 majors in agriculture, forestry, animal husbandry and fishery, which basically cover the traditional pillar industries and emerging industries required for the development and construction of agriculture and rural areas. The college attaches great importance to the employment and entrepreneurship of graduates, and has established a “full-process” system for employment and entrepreneurship guidance, integrating graduate career planning, employment and entrepreneurship ideological education, employment and entrepreneurship skills training, innovation and entrepreneurship awareness and innovation ability training throughout the talent training process. In carrying out innovation and entrepreneurship education, upholding the concept of promoting education through competition, students' innovation and entrepreneurship awareness and skills have been better cultivated. The total number of college graduates in 2020 is 2270, of which: 821 are females and 1449 are males. The proportion of graduates in each department is as follows: 553 in the Department of Animal Science, accounting for 24.36% of the total; 248 in the Department of Biological Engineering, accounting for 10.93% of the total; 255 in the Department of Landscape Engineering, accounting for 11.23% of the total; Department of Mechanical and Electrical Engineering 188 people, accounting for 8.28% of the total; 569 people in the Economics and Trade Department, accounting for 25.07% of the total; 457 people in the Information Engineering Department, accounting for 20.13% of the total. As of August 31, 2020, the initial employment rate was 76.12%. In recent years, the employment rate of graduates ranks first among vocational colleges in the province.
