Shangrao Vocational and Technical College is a general college level full-time higher vocational and technical college (publicly run) approved by the Jiangxi Provincial People's Government and filed by the Ministry of Education. The college was founded in 2004, and its predecessor was based on Shangrao Industrial School, which was formed by merging Shangrao Industrial School, Shangrao Agricultural School, and Shangrao Branch of Jiangxi Art School. It is the only full-time higher vocational and technical college in Shangrao City that focuses on engineering and specializes in colleges. In 2015, the college obeyed the overall situation. According to the arrangement of the provincial and municipal governments, the Jiangxi Phoenix Advanced Technical School was accepted into the system. The college is located in the outskirts of Shangrao, with a campus area of 550 acres and a building area of 280,000 square meters.
