The Gongqing College of Nanchang University is an independent college with coordinated development of engineering, culture, education, economics, management, and arts. The college is located at the southern foot of Mount Lushan, on the bank of Pohu Lake-Gongqing City, Jiangxi Province. It covers an area of 1041 acres with a superior geographical location and a beautiful campus environment.
The college started running in 1985 and was originally named "Jiangxi University Gongqing Vocational College". The then General Secretary of the CPC Central Committee Hu Yaobang personally wrote the name of the college. In 1991, the college was renamed "Gongqing College of Jiangxi University". In 1993, the former Jiangxi University and Jiangxi University of Technology merged to form Nanchang University, and the college was renamed "Kongqing College of Nanchang University". In 2002, it was approved by the Jiangxi Provincial Department of Education and the Jiangxi Provincial Development Planning Commission to become an undergraduate comprehensive independent college.
The Gongqing College of Nanchang University mainly cultivates high-quality and high-skilled application talents who meet the needs of regional economic and social development. Based on the reality of running a school, the college has formed a working idea of taking goals as the guidance, unifying thinking; taking problems as the guidance, reforming and innovating, taking talents as the foundation, and providing high-quality services. Set off to stimulate the potential and promote the reform of the teaching model with students as the main body. There are more than 400 faculty members in the college. The college actively promotes teaching reform, strengthens connotation construction, improves teaching quality, takes the construction of teaching style as its core work, conducts selection of various advanced characters among teachers, and continuously improves teachers' professional level and service ability.
The college currently has more than 8,000 college-based and junior college students. Students have repeatedly achieved good results in various competitions across the country and the province. Won the "Red Dot Concept Design Award" known as the "Oscar" in the design industry, the first prize of the National College Student Mathematical Modeling Contest, the Gold Medal of the 7th National Vantage Industrial Design Competition, and the finals of the "Odifen" Cup China Underwear Design Contest Gold award. More than 50 people have won special prizes in the National College English Contest, and the college has won the first prize of the Ganjiang Cup College English Contest for Higher Vocational Colleges for 12 consecutive years.
The college now has 8 teaching units, including the Department of Economics and Trade, the Department of Chinese Language and Education, the Department of Foreign Languages and Literature, the Department of Engineering Technology, the Department of Information Engineering, the Department of Business Administration, the Department of Art and Design, and the Department of Public Courses. There are 34 teaching and research sections under it. , There are 17 undergraduate majors and 20 junior majors, as well as an art and design research institute.
The college keeps innovating the content of its work, and won the first prize of the Party Building and Ideological and Political Work Excellent Practice and Innovation Achievement Award of the Independent College of Jiangxi Province. The college has successively won the titles of advanced grassroots party organization in colleges and universities in the province, advanced collective of ideological and political education work in colleges and universities in the province, Nanchang University's pioneering priority to enter the grassroots party organization, and the title of Communist Youth City Advanced Party Working Committee.
The college has a good style of study, and the campus is harmonious and stable. Won the Jiujiang Civilized Unit and the Advanced Unit for the Construction of the Rule of Law in Gongqing City, was rated as an outstanding organization unit for graduate employment by Nanchang University for nine consecutive years, and was rated as an advanced unit for comprehensive governance by Gongqing City for eight consecutive years, and was awarded for seven consecutive years.
