Nanjing Normal University is a national "double first-class" construction university and a Jiangsu high-level university construction university. The main source of the school can be traced back to Sanjiang Normal School founded in 1902, which is one of the birthplaces of higher normal education in China. Later, it went through the Liangjiang Excellent Normal School, Nanjing Higher Normal School, National Southeast University, National Fourth Sun Yat-sen University, Jiangsu University, National Central University, National Nanjing University, etc.; its other source is the Huishu Academy founded in 1888. It developed into Jinling University and merged with Jinling Women's College of Arts and Sciences (formerly known as Jinling Women's University) in 1951 to form the public Jinling University. In 1952, the colleges and departments nationwide were adjusted, and Nanjing Normal University was established on the basis of the former Nanjing University and the public Jinling University.
