Wuxi Vocational and Technical College of Technology is a full-time general college approved by the Jiangsu Provincial People's Government and affiliated to the Jiangsu Provincial Department of Education. It is currently the only independent institution of higher learning in Yixing.
The predecessor department of the college was founded in 1958, Taodu University of Technology, and was adjusted to Jiangsu Yixing Ceramic Industry School in 1959. Its origin can be traced back to the Jiangsu Province Yixing Ceramic Vocational School founded in 1933. In 1985, it was renamed Jiangsu Yixing Light Industry School, and in July 2004, it was upgraded to Wuxi Vocational and Technical College of Technology. The college was prospered by Taoism. Since its upgrade, the college has adhered to the development path of connotation enhancement, and its school-running strength has been significantly enhanced.
