Kangda College of Nanjing Medical University was founded in 1999. It is a public-private secondary college independently established by Nanjing Medical University and approved by the Provincial Department of Education. In 2005, it was established as an independent college with the approval of the Ministry of Education. In 2011, Nanjing Medical University and Lianyungang Municipal Government signed a cooperative education agreement. In September 2013, Kangda College of Nanjing Medical University officially moved from Nanjing to Lianyungang to run the school. The new campus of the college is located at the foot of Huaguo Mountain in Lianyungang Scenic Area. It covers an area of 500 acres and has a total construction area of more than 200,000 square meters.
The college has more than ten teaching institutions including the Department of Basic Medicine, the Department of Clinical Medicine, the Department of Nursing, the Department of Pharmacy, the Department of Rehabilitation Medicine, and the Department of Humanities Management. The hospital, 3 clinical medical schools and 8 teaching hospitals also share the teaching resources of more than 20 affiliated hospitals of Nanjing Medical University. The college currently has nearly 300 faculty members, among which 93.3% have PhD and master's degrees.
The college has 13 majors including clinical medicine, preventive medicine, pharmacy, medical imaging technology, nursing, public utility management, biomedical engineering, optometry, rehabilitation therapy, medical laboratory technology, pharmaceutical preparations, medical information engineering, and English. 19 directions. The current number of students in the college is 6,400. The college’s various teaching, experimental and living facilities are advanced and complete. The library has a collection of nearly 800,000 volumes. At the same time, as a branch of the Nanjing Medical University Library, students of the college can share the rich collection resources of the Nanjing Medical University Library.
The college actively explores education and teaching reforms, continuously improves the quality of teaching and talent training, and has achieved remarkable results. In the ranking of Wushulian University of Tsinghua University, the quality of freshmen and graduates of our school ranks among the top 10 among nearly 300 independent colleges nationwide for three consecutive years. In order to improve the quality of talent training, the college selects a certain number of outstanding students every year to study in Nanjing Medical University and other well-known domestic medical colleges and universities for one year, providing students with opportunities to study and exchange in high-level medical universities; the college vigorously develops overseas exchanges Cooperation with Hong Kong and Taiwan, Central Asia, Japan and South Korea and other regions and countries such as medical colleges and universities, and expand the college’s way of running schools abroad. At present, the joint training agreement has been signed with the Queen's University Belfast in the UK, Trinity West University in Canada and other foreign institutions. Actively exploring school-enterprise cooperation, the college signed a contract with Jiangsu Haosen Pharmaceutical to hold Hausen classes to jointly cultivate talents in urgent need of enterprises. The college actively participates in the construction of a healthy port city, and carries out a series of health promotion activities, first aid knowledge promotion and skills training, mental health activities and voluntary services, etc. The activities have been well received by local citizens.
After eighteen years of development and accumulation, Kangda College has become an independent college with advanced concepts, distinctive features, strict management, and excellent brand, which has been widely recognized and widely praised by the society. The college will inherit and carry forward the excellent school-running traditions of Nanjing Medical University, combined with the local characteristics of the city, focus on the construction of general medicine, nursing, pharmacy, rehabilitation treatment technology, medical imaging technology, public utility management and other majors; give full play to the advantages of medical education, Promote and improve the overall medical, scientific research, and health development of hospitals in Lianyungang area, and form a good development pattern of mutual promotion of science, education and research, and learning; actively transform scientific and technological achievements to serve social and economic development. The college will continue to actively explore the way to run schools with Kangda's characteristics and open a new chapter in the history of the college's development.
During the 13th Five-Year Plan period, all teachers, students and staff of the college will concentrate their efforts to accelerate development, and strive to build the college into a local, applied, distinctive, high-level, and international medical undergraduate college.
