Nanjing Teachers College of Special Education

Nanjing Teachers College for Special Education is located in Nanjing, the "fraternity capital". It is the only independent institution in the country to train special education teachers as the main general undergraduate education and the training of specialized talents in the management and service of higher education for persons with disabilities and the cause of persons with disabilities. It is the first secondary normal school in New China to train special education teachers and is under the management of the Ministry of Education. In 2002, it was upgraded to a tertiary institution and renamed as "Nanjing Vocational and Technical College of Special Education". In 2009, it became a joint unit of China Disabled Persons' Federation and Jiangsu Provincial People's Government. In 2013, approved by the Ministry of Education, the school prepared for the establishment of "Nanjing Teachers College for Special Education". In 2015, it was upgraded to an ordinary undergraduate university. The school is a national outstanding special education teacher training reform project unit, "National Vocational Education Teacher Training Base for the Disabled", "China Braille Sign Language Promotion Service Center", "Jiangsu Special Education Development Guidance Center", "Jiangsu Special Education Teacher Training Center" ", "Jiangsu Supporting Research Center for Educational Examinations for the Visually Impaired".    The school currently has the main campus of Yanziji and the branch campus of Jiangning, covering an area of 501.2 acres. The main campus faces the towering Zhongshan Mountain to the south, the surging Yangtze River to the north, the magnificent Shogunate to the west, and the beautiful Qixia to the east. The campus is surrounded by grass, green trees, wide buildings, red walls and white walls, short posts and quiet pools, a beautiful environment and complete facilities. The total building area of the school building is 161,520 square meters, and the total value of teaching and research equipment is 44.57 million yuan. The school has the first educational thematic history museum in China-the China Special Education Museum, which has a collection of more than 2,300 special education objects and documents. The school has special education colleges, preschool education colleges, rehabilitation sciences colleges, music colleges, language colleges, mathematics and information sciences colleges, management colleges (disabled business management colleges), fine arts colleges/sunshine colleges, marxist colleges, sports colleges and Continuing Education College (Jiangsu Special Education Teacher Training Center Office) and other 11 colleges, a total of 38 undergraduate and junior college majors, involving education, literature, management, law, science, engineering, agriculture, medicine, art, etc. University disciplines.


   The school has 1 national second prize for teaching achievement awards for higher education and 7 provincial teaching achievement awards. "Pedagogy" and "Public Management" were approved as key provincial construction disciplines during the 13th Five-Year Plan. The school and Nanjing Normal University and Nanjing University of Posts and Telecommunications jointly carry out postgraduate training. In recent years, the school has undertaken more than 20 projects including the National Self-Technology Fund, the National Social Science Fund, the Humanities and Social Sciences Fund of the Ministry of Education, and the key projects of education planning.    There are 6,854 full-time students in the school (including 401 disabled college students).
