Nanjing Teachers College for Special Education is located in Nanjing, the "fraternity capital". It is the only independent institution in the country to train special education teachers as the main general undergraduate education and the training of specialized talents in the management and service of higher education for persons with disabilities and the cause of persons with disabilities. It is the first secondary normal school in New China to train special education teachers and is under the management of the Ministry of Education. In 2002, it was upgraded to a tertiary institution and renamed as "Nanjing Vocational and Technical College of Special Education". In 2013, approved by the Ministry of Education, the school prepared for the establishment of "Nanjing Teachers College for Special Education". The school currently has the main campus of Yanziji and the branch campus of Jiangning, covering an area of 501.2 acres.
