Xuhai College of China University of Mining and Technology is an independent college run by China University of Mining and Technology under a new mechanism. It was established in 1999 and was approved as an independent college by the Ministry of Education in 2003. It was one of the first independent colleges approved to run a school in Jiangsu Province. The college is located in the central city of Huaihai Economic Zone, one of the first batch of national ecological garden cities, a famous historical and cultural city, and Xuzhou City, Jiangsu Province, which enjoys the reputation of "one city, green mountains and half city". The campus is adjacent to the Yunlong Lake Scenic Area, a national 5A-level scenic spot with pleasant scenery and a sea of flowers in all seasons. It is located in the prosperous area of the city, with complete living service facilities such as transportation, shopping, and catering. The college runs on the Wenchang campus of China University of Mining and Technology, covering an area of 1555 mu. The campus has complete teaching and research facilities, including 2 national key laboratories, 2 national engineering (technical) research centers, 1 national and local joint engineering laboratory, 4 key laboratories of the Ministry of Education, and 2 engineering researches of the Ministry of Education Center, 17 other provincial and ministerial key laboratories, engineering (technical) research centers (including research bases), 2 provincial collaborative innovation centers, low-carbon energy research institutes and Internet of Things (perception mines) research centers have completed 1 National University Science Park. There are more than 2.7 million books in the collection, and 3.28 million digital books. And the well-equipped cultural, sports, and living facilities that can meet the learning and living needs of 20,000 students have created good conditions for students to grow and become talents. At present, the college has more than 8,300 ordinary undergraduate students.
The college relies on the strong disciplines and teaching advantages of China University of Mining and Technology. China University of Mining and Technology is a national key university directly under the Ministry of Education, the national "211 Project", "985 Advantage Discipline Innovation Platform Project" and the national "Double First Class" construction university. It is also the Ministry of Education, Jiangsu Provincial People's Government, and National Work Safety Supervision and Administration. The General Administration jointly builds colleges and universities, and the school has graduate schools. Through long-term development and construction, the basic pattern of a multidisciplinary system and a multidisciplinary university has been formed, with engineering as the main subject, mining as the feature, and the coordinated development of science, engineering, literature and management. Engineering, earth science, materials science, and chemistry ESI ranks among the top 1% of global universities and scientific research institutions. There are more than 3,100 faculty members, 16 academicians of the Chinese Academy of Sciences (including external appointments), and 1 foreign academician of the Russian Academy of Engineering. Among the more than 1,910 full-time teachers, there are 424 professors and 746 associate professors; 370 doctoral supervisors and 975 master supervisors. The proportion of teachers with doctoral degrees is more than 70%.
The college sets up majors based on social development and market demand. The college currently has 9 teaching units, including the Department of Economics and Management, the Department of Mechatronics and Materials Engineering, the Department of Information and Electrical Engineering, the Department of Construction Engineering, the Department of Computer, the Department of Foreign Languages and Culture, the Department of Literature and Art, the Department of Basic Teaching, and the Department of Public Sports; There are currently 24 majors in enrollment, including 16 majors in science and engineering, 7 majors in literature and history, and 1 major in art. The college graduates have achieved outstanding results in the postgraduate entrance examination, and have maintained a higher education rate of more than 10%. In recent years, the school has formed a good atmosphere for postgraduate entrance examinations. Typical students such as all students in the dormitory of Xueba have accepted postgraduate entrance examinations and 149 points in mathematics for postgraduate entrance examinations.
