Hunan Vocational College of Foreign Languages

The college was founded in 1993, formerly known as Liuyang Foreign Language Training College; in 2002, it was invested solely by the Hunan Liuyanghe Vocational Education Group to build the Liuyang campus with complete school functions; in 2005, the first higher vocational major-Business English In 2006, approved by the People's Government of Hunan Province and filed by the Ministry of Education, it was officially upgraded to a general higher vocational college, and it was realized in Liuyang and Changsha to run schools, becoming the only higher vocational college dominated by applied foreign languages in our province.


   2. School conditions


  The Liuyang campus of the college covers an area of 185 acres, with a building area of nearly 80,000 square meters, with facilities for teaching, training, living, services, culture and sports, etc. It can accommodate 5000 students and implements a closed management mode. The Changsha campus relies on the complete school conditions of the original Hunan Taxation School to implement cooperative education, which can accommodate 7,000 students. In order to meet the ever-expanding demand for education and comprehensively improve the ability to run schools, the college has acquired 683 acres of land in Wangcheng District, Changsha, and the construction of a new campus with a total of nearly 700,000 square meters is currently in full swing. At the end of 2018, the first phase of 350,000 square meters The rice construction task will be basically completed, and the students will definitely move in. After the new campus is completed, it will become an ecological, garden-style, digital campus, and become the architectural benchmark for higher vocational colleges in our province.


   Three, professional settings


  The college is dominated by foreign language education, and aims to cultivate talents in foreign-related business services. There are currently English Department, Western Language Department, Eastern Language Department, Foreign Economic Management Department, Nursing Department, and Secondary Vocational Education Department. A total of 21 majors have been opened, recruiting students from 18 provinces, cities, and districts across the country. There are currently more than 12,000 students in school. . The professional system of the college is divided into three major sections: applied foreign languages, business services, and foreign-related nursing. The training of talents mainly connects with the country’s “Belt and Road” and Hunan’s export-oriented economy. At present, the major of applied foreign language has become a "fist product" with strong market appeal and social recognition. The foreign-related nursing major with well-known professors and doctors of Xiangya Hospital as the academic and management team has become a popular specialty in the market. In 2018, the college was approved for two new majors: pre-school education and midwifery, becoming the only non-normal colleges and universities in the province with pre-school education and the only non-medical colleges and universities with midwifery.   4. Faculty


The college adheres to "famous teachers", and has always been committed to building a professional teaching team led by famous teaching teachers, school-enterprise dual professional leaders, and "dual quality" backbone teachers, industry and enterprise experts as the main body. The teaching team is composed of four main bodies. Composition: First, foreign teachers from all over the world, second, returnee teachers with overseas study background and foreign work experience, third, professional teachers with industry experience and professional post experience, fourth, part-time job composed of experts and experts from industry enterprises teacher. There are more than 350 full-time teachers, among which 70% have a master's degree or above, 60% are "dual-professional" teachers, and 20% are teachers with overseas study and work backgrounds.


   5. Talent training


The college closely meets the needs of the society to train high-quality technical and technical talents, and continuously strengthens education and teaching reforms and innovative exploration of talent training models. First, according to market standards, the talent training specifications are positioned as "dual literacy, dual skills, and dual certificates", that is, "humanities" Literacy + professional literacy, foreign language skills + professional skills, academic certificate + professional qualification certificate". The second is to build a "dual-core curriculum system" of "professional core competence + professional core competence" based on professional characteristics. The third is to give full play to language advantages and fully implement the innovative training model of "foreign language + professional + skills".    VI. Student Development


  The college pays attention to strengthening the training of the "trinity" of students' knowledge, quality, and abilities, and makes every effort to help students develop career planning and design, and promotes full, effective and high-quality employment of students as a "conscience project" for construction. Efforts have been made to build both domestic and foreign employment markets: the “East China Office” has been established in Shanghai, which is responsible for the development of the employment market in Shanghai, Jiangsu and Zhejiang, and other regions in the Yangtze River Delta; the platform resources of the Education International Exchange Association, the resources of foreign teachers, and the foreign Cooperative resources, overseas Chinese resources and other foreign employment market expansion "six channels"; cooperation with more than 600 enterprises to establish a stable employment base for students. In the past three years, the average final employment rate of graduates is 98.6%, and the employment professional counterpart rate is more than 60%. Every year, about 150 students go to work abroad; the proportion of graduates who achieve job promotion within three years of work reaches 40% above. The college is the “outstanding” university in Hunan Province’s graduate employment “top project” evaluation.

   The college is committed to creating a "market-oriented, professional, international" school-running characteristic, and is the province's most active vocational college with the most active foreign exchanges and cooperation and the most distinctive international school-running characteristics.    8. Social influence


   After more than 20 years of construction and development, the college has now become the province's small language application talent training base, foreign business talent training base, service outsourcing talent training center, and international education cooperation and exchange center. The college is a key university supported by the "Twelfth Five-Year Education Development Plan of Changsha City". It is also one of the five colleges and universities in China that has been absorbed as a member by the World Vocational Education College Alliance. It is now an executive of the China Education International Exchange Association.
