Yongzhou Vocational and Technical College was approved by the Ministry of Education of the Hunan Provincial People's Government in July 2000, and was upgraded from the merger of Lingling Health School and Lingling Agricultural School. In order to integrate the educational resources of Yongzhou, in June 2003, with the approval of the Hunan Provincial People's Government, the original Lingling Commercial School, Lingling Normal School, and Lingling Technical School were merged into the three general secondary schools.
The college now covers an area of 3362 acres, a building area of 470,000 square meters, and a total fixed asset value of more than 1.1 billion yuan, including 160 million yuan in equipment and more than 900,000 books in the library. There are 967 in-service faculty members, of which 68 have high professional titles and 260 have deputy high professional titles; 242 have doctoral and master's degrees. Among the full-time teachers, the proportion of teachers with "double-teaching" quality is 82%. There are 35 higher vocational majors, which cover medicine, agronomy, machinery, economics and trade, information, construction, education, etc., and enroll students from 27 provinces and municipalities across the country, with 17,000 full-time students. There are 1 national-level teaching team, 3 provincial-level teaching teams, 1 national vocational education professional teaching resource library project, 2 national education reform pilot majors, and 6 national key construction majors; there are provincial-level quality majors and There are 8 teaching reform pilot majors, 2 provincial-level model characteristic majors, 2 provincial-level characteristic majors, 1 provincial-level model characteristic majors, and 19 national and provincial quality courses. There are 3 national vocational education training bases and 3 provincial production practice training bases. It has three major on-campus productive internship training bases, including affiliated hospitals, ecological farms, and smooth driving schools.
Since its establishment, the college has adhered to the orientation of “based on Yongzhou, serving agriculture, rural areas and farmers”, committed to cultivating high-quality and high-skilled specialized application-oriented talents for local economic and social development. "The new way of running a school has formed a distinctive school-running feature, and has achieved remarkable results in running a school.
