Hunan Biomechanical Vocational and Technical College is a full-time public general higher education institution with a history of more than 100 years. It is an outstanding and Hunan exemplary higher vocational college with separate enrollment qualifications. Academician Yuan Longping, a world-renowned hybrid rice expert, is the honorary dean of the college.
The predecessor of the college "Hunan Private School" was founded in 1903. The pioneer of the democratic revolution Huang Xing, the educator Xu Teli, and the founding leader Mao Zedong are outstanding representatives of the college's early teachers. They have trained a large number of national leaders such as Mao Zetan, a revolutionary martyr, Wang Shoudao, the national leader, and Tian Han, the "father of the national anthem".
The college covers an area of 2470 acres and is divided into two districts, one field and one base, namely, the Donghu campus, the Mapoling campus, the production, education and research demonstration field, and the super hybrid rice production demonstration and talent training base. With a total construction area of 260,000 square meters, there are 2 libraries, 2 football stadiums with a 400-meter standard track, 1 large gymnasium with a construction area of 8,500 square meters, and more than 30 venues for basketball, badminton, table tennis, and tennis. The college has eight colleges including the School of Plant Science and Technology, the School of Animal Science and Technology, the School of Mechanical and Electrical Engineering, the School of Vehicle Engineering, the School of Economics and Trade, the School of Information Technology, the School of Humanities, the School of Ideological and Political Theory, the School of Physical Education and Art, and the School of Continuing Education.
